4 is probably overweight. 5 is probably the start of obese. A lot of women carry 4 and 5 really well anyway some don't. BMI is all about risk of heart disease not about how good you look though.

2 is probably borderline thin (18.5-19ish). 1 is unhealthily thin (guessing like 16 or something crazy).

If someone can afford the cost of food to make themselves morbitlyobese I would think they have the money to reverse it. So its a matter of mential health. Anything above 7 is likly a from some type of mental illness issus. Most likly PTSD, or a victum of severe abuse, aszaerbated by Rx drugs. Its an illness that needs a treatment and a cure like any other.

You didn't leave an option for none.

Fat has become a rude word. A few hundred years ago the #9 would be considered the most attractive.
LOL, no. Even Rubens, famous for painting fatter people than just about anyone of the era, typically stopped at 6.

6 is obese, according to the link. You're spot on with #1 - 16.

When your mindset believes that only skinny women are attractive you leave the rest of the female population (about 95%) for men who believe that beauty is beyond body size while you go searching for some unobtainable skinny model type fantasy woman.

Defensive fat person typing detected.

First off, BS on the 95% number. ~2/3rds of the population have BMIs under 30, and half of them are under 25. Secondly, surveys of men find the "ideal" female figure to be around a 25 BMI anyway. Whoever told you that men are gaga about the skinny women was ignorant or lying.

As far as changing standards: No. Not the 9. Rubenesque nudes would be a 6, tops.

I'd bang anything from 2-5.

I'd take sixes meal and give it to 1. The rest are in danger of being harpooned while swimming.

I don't like the word "normal" in that context. In present day America "normal" is fat.

1 and 2 are too skinny, borderline anorexic.

3 and 4 are what I would consider as attractive and probably healthy body shapes.

5 is just a little overweight

6 is overweight

7 is very overweight

8 is fat

9 is obese.

Well said. I agree. I voted then checked the link. I was trying to find out how was #1 healthy...fortunately the article concurred she was not.

I feel a slight distress that there wasn't anything to describe the range between "ideal" and "fat". There is going to be a chub zone for sure.

Theres a wide range of opinions on what looks good. Theres a narrow range of disagreement on whats actually healthy.

You can be chubby and still get plenty of jogging in and have a much stronger heart that someone who does nothing all day and stays skinny by eating nothing.

But either way, people are gonna argue about what qualifies as "sexy".

I guess if heart disease wasnt so common these days, we probably wouldnt have so many discussions on this subject.

the availability of food.

also, is it really so hard to believe that a #9 is incredibly unhealthy? i imagine most would find #1 to be unhealthy as well (too much weight vs too little).

Fat starts at 5, and gets progressively more obese as you move to the right. 1 and 2 need a sandwich; 5-7 simply need to watch their calorie intake a bit and spend some time in the gym. 8 and 9 need to consult a doctor and a nutritionist, and spend time working out every day.
