Comparison here

I've been planning on the Samsung for a while now but I thought the Dell looked really impressive, similar specs, similar price, bonus of the 2MP webcam built in....

Nice...

If I'm buying the Dell, it will have to be from Dell but if I'm buying the Samsung, it will be from Newegg.

Anyway, as usual, I'm asking for your...

Vote, thoughts, comments, suggestions.

:D

Edit: Almost forgot, the Dell also has an HDMI port...

Depends on whether or not you get a S-panel on the 226BW Samsung. Samsung out sourced the panels and some of the third party manufacturers panels C or A have a washed out or color bleeding.

I own a 216BW Samsung and it is awesome!

All the reviews I've read state that regardless of which Samsung panel you get, they're still better than anything else that size. And they C panel can be adjusted to where there's almost no difference, according to all I've read.

Yea, there was some rampant speculation about the panels earlier. Essentially, they tested the C, A, and S panels. The S panel starts off with a more ideal setting, but you can adjust the A or C panels to the same levels. There's no difference in the contrast, brightness specs etc.. It is a TN panel however, regardless of which model you get, so don't expect it to have the best viewing angles. I remember reading Dell has a panel lottery too, so beware. Also I just hate dell, so I might be biased, I'm happy with my samsung A panel personally.

I know about the panel lotteries.

I just thought it might be worth a shot just to consider the Dell but nah...never mind...

Samsung seems the runaway winner.

I can tell you that even with a C panel, its as good as the S one. Its all up to the user and how she/he calibrates the monitor.

Panel lottery would matter if the actual panels used were different technology, e.g some are S-IPS and some SPVA and so on.

Has anyone done any statistics to figure out what percentage of the monitors are S, A or C?

You might want to wait and see if anyone who actually owns one of the new dells has an opinion. I gota 226bw last month and am a little annoyed dell just released this new one cuz I generally like their monitors (had a 2001FP) and sorely miss the 4 USB connecters on the monitor; the new 2208 has them.

I used to work for Dell and they used Samsung, Sony, and one other brand to make there LCDs on LCD monitors and Notebooks.

I am not sure if they still do that.

I just ordered the 226BW and hoping for the S panel.

That's GREAT!!

Where did you order it from?

I ordered mine from the EGG. I tookit apart and looked up the model number of the LCD itself. Made by Samsung.
