I've been experimenting with low-bitrate encoding, mostly for movies and that kind of thing. I'm wondering what you think the best audio codec is for encoding at 24kbps and below. I'm using the Matroska file wrapper, so my choices are somewhat limited, but it's still in development so new file choices could be added, in theory.
Of the few people who responded to another, similar thread I posted, Ogg Vorbis was the most common answer. For the life of me I can't get BeSweet to actually encode that low, no matter what the settings. It always comes out significantly above my target bitrate. If you know what's going on with this, let me know how to fix it.
If there's something not on the list, tell me what it is and where to get it.
