This is kind of in relation to my last thread because I"m trying to figure out if Mandrake is the best for me. So the subject line explains it all...

I'm currently using Mandrake 7.1 (or trying to use)

RedHat 6.2!

Am going to upgrade to RedHat 7.0, but I have read about it still having tons of bugs so I will wait a while...

RedHat, on multiple PCs... distro vers vary from 6.0 to 7.0 but they are far from accurate today...

Red hat 7.0..upgraded from 6.1 which was my first foray into linux. I loved red hat 6.1, but I am in lust with 7.0...much lighter, faster, many quirks about 6.1 fixed in 7.0 (not bugs, just strange ways they made things behave, like now you can turn off the "you are logged in as root" warning, and version 7 does a much cleaner job of setting up PPP internet accounts)

I like sawfish better, and some otherthings as well.

I have heard that it is buggy, and they do have a few bug fixes now available, but I haven't seen any evidence of bugs, just operator errors/ignorance on my part

I also found red hat's documentation to be very complete, easy to find at their site, if you didn't buy it in a box, and the documentation is very easy for a newbie to understand.

I looked at the web sites for a few other distros and I wans't impressed with the documentation at all

red hat 7 comes with xfree86 4.0.XX as well..which is a big plus

Mandrake 7.1 on 2 PC's.

1) Dual booting with Win98 on a single Celeron 366@550/Asus P3V4X/128MB/TNT2.

2) Standing alone as a Linux box to play with and serving files and a printer to my home network with SAMBA on a dual classic Pentium 200/Tyan S1563D/96MB/Voodoo Rush. 41 days uptime and counting!

Dual boot Win98SE / Mandrake 7.0 on my main machine.
Going to tri-boot with Win2k shortly after Xmas at which time I'll probably upgrade to the newest Mandrake as well

ftp.linux.tucows.com/pub/ISO/

I downloaded RH7, both CDs simultaneously at 45Kbps each (so 90Kbps overall). Gonna install it tonight.

Running Slackware (latest version). Used to use Debian, then Red Hat, then Mandrake, now Slackware. It's a lot more configurable than the other IMO.
