Poll: Which language would you study?

I guess most people are like this, but I'm interesting in just about everything. I'm not really ADD, I just keep finding new, amazing things to read or learn. I don't know how many of them stick, but that's another story. 😛

I would like to learn another language. So far I'm considering:

Russian - Very interesting, moderately useful.
German - Somewhat interesting, very useful.
Japanese - Pretty interesting, not useful.
French - Somewhat interesting, very useful.

I should really learn Russian since I've been messing with it on and off for the last ten years. German and French would be useful, but boring to study. Japanese would be interesting, but tedious and useless.

As far as materials go, I'm have them for Russian and Japanese. I do not know Hirigana/Katakana, but I do know the Russian alphabet completely.

Bleh, I don't know. Discuss!

Learn Japanese if you want to slaughter whales, torture and rape entire villages, and build kickass robots. Japanese are excellent at all of these things. Everyone knows this.

Portuguese

GF has been teaching me informally for about a year now. I figured i'd benefit from formal training and being graded. So, I enrolled in a Portuguese class at a community college this semester.
Went to my first class last night.

You're right, those are all things. I guess my dislike of anime and Japanese video games doesn't help its cause.

German. I'm not a big fan of the romance languages. Asian languages are needlessly difficult, and I don't see much point in Russian unless you like browsing sketchy websites.

I'm curious how German and French are "very" useful to you. Work? Travel?

The language I should learn, which I could certainly label as "very" useful in Colorado, is Spanish.

Learn Russian. The Ruskies have a LOT of land to rape and pilfer for their wood, oil and minerals.

I like the individual who is evil enough to rape and pilfer a land for its resources, but respectful enough to learn the native language of the inhabitants beforehand. Shows class.

Well, with those two I should be able to get around Europe well. I've taken Spanish and understand it well enough to get by in a pinch, but it's just about dead-last as far as my interests go.

French is close enough to Spanish that you should be able to read ok, and get the general point of things. German would help with the other Germanic languages, and also a bit of the Scandinavian ones.

I'd learn Japanese myself, just so I could watch Kurusawa movies without needing subtitles. But, I think Russian would be very handy to learn. German / French would be the easiest as they are very similar to English .... but I think not as interesting to learn ...

My goal is to make German a sexy language, so that's what I've been studying. This last weekend I told my boyfriend in a nice, sultry whisper: "Ich liebe dich", to which he replied, "Eeky leeky deeky?"

😕

I've studied latin, french, and spanish in school (2 years of latin and french in high school, 4 semesters of spanish in college)

I wish I spoke french better.

Yeah I wish I understood and spoke French better as well then I wouldn't have to worry about English subtitles for my French horror like Inside, Martyrs, ... Plenty of great French films out there without english subtitles so it would be very helpful. Thankfully I know enough to get by.

Well, we were watching Indiana Jones, and we were both kind of drunk...that counts right?
