Total Annihilation had a nice score. I think they used an actual orchestra. :Q

I really like Final Fantasy music but WHY CAN"T THEY JUST USE DIGITAL MUSIC? I know Midi is efficient and all but...it's OLD and sound REALLY corny, at least in FF7. FF3(6) music was the best IMHO.

Half-Life has music? Where? I never play single player. ;)

Thanks, SilentBoB:). I was almost about to cry after going through all those posts and not seeing the ORIGINAL SUPER MARIO BROS. music not given a shout out. By far the most recognizable digitized piece of the modern era.

Especially the music from the castles.

Duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh........

Duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh........

*changes key*

Duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh........

Duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh........

It would have to be Xenogears for me. There are just so
many great songs on that soundtrack and then there are the remixes
available on Creid which are also quite good. I'd give honorable
mentions to various Final Fantasies, Chrono Trigger & Cross,
Castlevania SOTN and to Parasite Eve for it's great main theme (a
sweeping piano piece).

Best game music:

Actraiser (SNES)
Final Fantasy 3 (SNES, FF6 japan)
Viewpoint (NeoGeo)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Playstation, I still remember every note of the guitar piece)
The Sims (PC, the build mode music)

Side note about The Sims build music. If you like this look into a artest named George Winston. Although I doubt he did the music for the game, it sounds very much like him in both sound and playing style.
