**POLL**which CPU setting would you prefer?

1700+@2300 Mhz @ 1.8V

Most people say "You'll shorten the life of the CPU at that voltage"

I say, you'll be using an Athlon 64 / Pentium 4 this time next year and whomever you sell it to will most likely be running it at default voltage. So overclock that baby!

Exactly, 1.8 doesn't matter when they cost less than $50 for a new one.

normally i would agree but i'm sooooooooo broke right now that if it were to burn out, i wouldnt be able to get another one for a while

IMO the extra 100mhz just isn't worth the extra heat and voltage required for it, that's why I run my 2500+@2.3ghz 1.632v instead of 2.4ghz 1.775v

It's would be nice to know you could do 2.3 @ 1.8 but I'd rather run it at low vcore, besides it's only 100mhz...

The first one...There is ABSOLUTELY no point to run it much faster than that today, save for the fact that you could "show it off" to people.

go with the 1.8 volts 🙂

i'm using about 1.8 volts +.01-.02 (fluctuates) to get 2.5 ghz and amazingly i haven't had a hiccup yet...

and yeah.. if i kill it... i got 3 other tbreds sitting in my room 🙂

is that the chipped 0310XPMW at 2.5GHz@1.8v?
if then, wow!!!:Q😀

Since it's the summer, it's hot outside and even with AC gets too warm in my computer room....

Lower voltage and speed for lower max output. So I voted A. Took off my own overclock completely for now, might even underclock and see what min voltage I can get to.

Heck I run my Pentium 4 2.53Ghz at 3.04ghz at 1.28voltage 🙂 and it's 10C cooler than at the same clock at 1.525 volts 😛

Run it at 1.65V. Less to worry about mainly. 1.65V will also run a lot cooler than 1.8v, so you should be able to turn your fans down a bit and not go deaf. I have settled on 2GHz @1.65v for my 1700 because it takes 1.75 to get to 2.1GHz.
