I'm up for the new every two program on Verizon.

I just need a good small basic phone that works well. All I do is calls, texts and the occational picture.

Of this list of phones that are free to me, which would you choose?

Samsung SCH-u620

Motorola MOTOKRZR K1m

Samsung SCH-u540

Motorola W385

Verizon Wireless G'zOne Type-V

Samsung SCH-a870

LG VX8300

LG VX5300

Samsung SCH-u340

Samsung SCH-u740

For me it would be a tossup between the Motorola MOTOKRZR K1m and the LG VX8300. Only because I like flatter phones I voted for the Motorola.

I have a LG VX8300, I think it's a good phone. I got it back in Nov 2006. Not had any problems.

I had no idea the other forum existed. Kinda silly. You know it gets very little traffic and would not be the best place to ask a question like that that needs a lot of input from ordinary users, not just phone geeks.

Do you honestly think I'd get the amount of traffic and opinions there that I'd get here?

I think that you'd get less traffic, but better facts. But that should be a non-issue, since this should be in the other forum anyways. If everyone used the correct forums, there would be more traffic. Either way you'll get better overall information in an on topic forum.

I agree. I do not visit the other forums much. I pretty much only read the stuff in OT. Unless I'm looking for specific info.

check out phonescoop.com for more info on each one. I work at a cell phone distribution company, so here are my 2 cents...

The LG 8300 was considered their flagship and it is a very solid phone as far as reception and use.

The K1M isn't a bad phone, but it isn't great either. It is not wide at all and hard to text on for me.

The Samsungs are good phones, but use a good bit of battery from what I hear. They also don't have the best phone reception out there, but they have damn good features usually.

For what you want, i would suggest the 8300 if the size doesn't bother you.

I'd have to agree, I prefer a phone that is easily pocketable.

Since I'm happy with the Motorola RAZR V3 I have I'd proboably opt for the MOTOKRZR.

Yeah, I pocket my phone all the time and need something both narrow and thin since I'm on the motorcycle and have my pockets stuffed.

I just picked up the G'z one type S (the newer model) and although it's one of the bigger phones out there --- it's really nice to have a phone that I can beat the crap out of and not worry if its going to break.

Plus, I've been able to take some really cool underwater pictures with it. :) (and the look on other peoples faces when you jump in the pool with your cell phone is priceless)

Not bad, but way too big. My phone has to fit in my pocket wit a bunch of other stuff when I ride.

At Verizon with the "new every two plan." I get 100 + 50 off of a new phone with a new two year plan.

Go with a Samsung or find a Nokia. LG has questionable quality and everyone and their mother has a freaking RAZR so try not to join in the KRZR band...

I don't give a flying fsck what everyone else has. If the phone works for me, everyone can have five and glue them to their forehead for all I care.

I'm 40. I left the popularity contests and the urge to be different just to be different behind long ago.

I've liked Samsung in the past and am using a SCH-a670 now with only a few minor complaints. But I've been hearing about bad reception lately with the new Samsungs.

And you are the first person to bash LG. So far I've only heard good things about them.

I dunno, I need more input.

I've had my Krzr for about 2 months now, no complaints or problems. Its better than my E815 and V710.
