<< Lite-On. Unlike their burners, their DVD-ROM drives are excellent. >>

i havent heard of any real problems with their burners. what is wrong with them? what is the next cheapest brand with good quality?

liteon 16x/48X

What do I think???

Well it speaks for itself...fastest dae ripper, faster then pioneer in about every category...and yeah it was cheaper then the pioneer when I bought it...

i have 2 pioneers(1 6x and 1 16x slot) and 1 pioneer(16x tray)

I voted for pioneer tho, cause I have more of them!

<< None, i'd rather watch movies on my tv. >>

LMAO!!!!!

Toshiba 16x, black. Sits nicely in my black Fong Kai FK320b. works great too!!!

That is an old version of that page as the liteon 163 is not even listed....The liteon will do just over 40x dae ripping...It reads cd data at over 44x...

How can you fault the Pioneer for being slower than Lite-On, when it's rated 40x compared to Lite-On's 48x?? To credit Pioneer, they actually beat their specs and reach ~43x in many cases, and it reads CD-RWs much faster than Lite-On. On DVD's side though, Lite-On totally kills the competition. But IMO, the best DVD-ROM is still the Toshiba 16x, it's hard to argue how complete of a package this drive provides, and the best CloneCD compatibility to top things off, the only drawback is its slow DVD movie ripping.
