i was thinking the same as you.. zipper so it's easier to put on and take off.. the other looks better, but the converse has the zipper.. i'd say go that way

edit: i didnt' realize the bates were also zipper.. in that case, go with the bates

I was leaning toward the Converse boots, but I think I'm about to order the Bates. This way I can get a couple pair of high-quality socks with the $$$ I'll save by going with Bates.
