I traced the origin using the tracking # on the box and mine came from Kowloon, HK and after 4 days use, see no flaws.

I heard that some ship from Mexico. I wonder if that accounts for some quality issues.

Post your info so we can compare :)

What kind of problems are you guys having? So far, I'm pretty happy with the T40 I got. I use it almost everyday and have not noticed any defects.

I had a few minor setup issues
I had some slight buzzing noise that went away, thanks to Scr4tch's post about power management for the USB hubs. The keys on the right side of the keyboard have some play in them, but from what I've read, that's just the way they are, and it's nothing 'wrong' with mine. I hardly notice it, but I will take it in to the shop to have them look at it. That's it for me. I'm *still* deciding between the T41 and the Compaq x1000. It's really a tough choice, but the T41 is so petite and svelt. On the other hand the x1000 is a LOT cheaper adn hasn't had a single hiccup and has that nice widescreen.

Scr4tch had some curvature on the backside of unit when closed. I think he sent it in for a replacement. ( Both of our units are in the 30 day window I think).

PS, I found out that the CDRW-DVDROM in mine can be patched to make it region free. Got to do that soon. Still getting ready to reinstall the OS. Hope to have all this testing done by the end of the weekend.

oh yeah, there is a significant difference in sound from the fan between my t40 and the x1000 i had before. the x1000 was MUCH quieter. of course, the t40 is quiet as well, just not as quiet as dead silent.
