I have a small cassette player/radio that I use out in my shop, but my last stereo that had both CD & cassette for making tapes died about a year ago, so no new tapes. Eventually I'll get a cheap unit for out there to play MP3 disks, although I doubt it will have quite the tolerance for dust that the tape player does ... I've put some seriously crudded up tapes into that, and they still work fine.

I tried using one the way I use all obsolete technology: as a hammer.

It didn't work too good, so I don't see much future for the cassette at all.

converted all my pop's old reel-to-reel tapes to cd, that stuff is way old school.

but it has a charm to it.

You could probably ask the same thing for a floppy disk. 3.5"

I only use cassettes on my 4-track. Other than that, it has probably been 10 years.

Last time was when I still had my 92 Chevy Prizm that had the factory tape deck. Even then, on long trips I pulled out the Discman and tape adapter. Got rid of it in 2000.

I use cassette tapes on a daily basis.

I take recorded statments for insurance claims. Very easy to use. Small tape player/recorder I can use in person or attach to the phone.

Technically it's a tape cassette. :p

And I used one to listen to The Smithereens on the way home from work tonight in my car.

I have a nice old TEAC reel-to-reel setup for my home stereo too. That thing has great sound. So much better than a tape cassette.
