For all of us that can't save a damn dime...for all of us whose money just jumps clean out of our pockets...for all of us that only have digits in the "cents" column of the checkbook, I present this thread.

"Major purchase " is a relative term, depending on how deep your pockets are, obviously.

Let's say above $500. That's a major purchase for me.

For your voting pleasure, I've listed some categories in the poll.

I'm planning on buying some bigger tires for my truck. That falls under "automotive." What say you, AT?

Yep, I remember those days well. $20 to get in, $10 per drink, money for the Coke-Whores that you're trying to get to go home w/you...get's expensive trying to get laid in NYC.

What about a general electronics category. Since I already have the wife/house/car, my next purchase is a nice new HT receiver.

I'm getting myself a new system once the tax return comes in, and then a house next December.

I don't know if it'll be a replacement for my truck or a new house. My '91 Dakota has 106K on it, but the wife wants to move in about three years.

It could be a Chevy Colorado at about $20K or getting a mortgage at I hope no more than $150K

I'm making $500 payments every two weeks on my credit cards, so no big purchases for a while.

I would like to buy a car this spring though.

I'll give you $500 for the truck! I guess that qualifies as my major purchase.

My biggest purchase is the new rig. A close second goes to the earrings and necklace of my fiancee. Already got soaked for the engagement rig pre-holidays. :p

Already bought a laptop for Xmas, My next "BTI" Big Ticket Item, will be a Big Screen T.V. I put it under Home improvement. Looking at a few models right now. Might buy at the after Xmas sale at Circuit City. Dunno. I'm in no hurry as Teq Missus only watches Lifetime and Doctor shows where they cut people up on T.V. and I think that would be a waste of screen. I don't even like to watch those shows at 30 inches wide. :)

Out of those, a house would be the answer for the Skoorbs...but really, it is the money for a Green Card so we CAN buy a house! *sigh*

That's not a purchase. This thread is not about how much you expect to have stolen from you in the near future.

That could be said about many purchases. Especially the 'divorce' option! ;) If it makes you happy, after the tuition, the next major purchase will probably be a bedroom set. Which I wouldn't call home improvement, or repair, but would call furnishings. I picked that option anyway, since that's where I'd add 'furnishings'.
