POLL: Whats your favourite nForce2 mobo and why?

Ok out of the following mobos, cast your vote and tell me why you think that particular board is the best.

Ive heard the Epox 8RDA being the fav but I wanna know what everyone here's personal opinions are.

Motherboards:

Epox 8RDA+
Soltek SL-75FRN-L
MSI K7N2G-L
Aopen AK79G
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
ABIT NF7-S
Shuttle SN41G2

Any other boards ive missed please vote other, and tell me what one and why.

Thanks
Dan 😉

EDIT: And please dont tell me how many times this questions been asked 🙁, i would like to see as many people as possible explain their views in one thread 😉

8RDA+ has a good mix of good overclockability, good BIOS support and low price, so I voted for it. Low points on the 8RDA+ include no S/PDIF-out (an option, but it comes to about 1/4 the price of the board itself, IIRC), an AGP slot perilously close to the memory retaining clips (can kill long AGP cards like Ti4600's if you don't take care), a floppy connector in a rather poor location/orientation, and a year less warranty than the Asus (two years, not three). EPoX seems more responsive to the user community than Asus, from what I've seen.

You might also remember the FIC equivalent of the EPoX 8RDA+ as an option.

Cheers for replying!

Could I get some more people telling me WHY they like what board theyve voted for!

That was ideal 🙂 thanks mech

Why? Because it's the one I bought. 🙂

What made you buy it though?

The nice red look to it? 😛 But seriously what drew you towards MSI?

Dan 🙂

Does that affect people in the UK then? No?
Good to know.
Like I said, the article made me think twice about an Epox board, it probably will concern many future buyers here at Anand's hardware forum who might want to pick up an Epox board, if you live in the US, that is 🙂.

I think it deserves mentioning that the "customers" mentioned in the article aren't us the end users, it's Mwave.com, TCWO.com, Newegg.com, etc who are the "customers" they're talking about (or that's my take on it).

If you have a bad board, you're still going to RMA it to Newegg, Dabs, or whomever sold it to you. In fact, EPoX has been insisting that you do that anyway, it's posted on their website. 😀 They don't take direct end-user RMA's.

I have to admit if i was the owner of a company similar to Epox I would not want to have to deal with direct end customer RMA's 😱

Although at the end of the day the board only ends up back in the companys hands.

Makes things more difficult in a way because they are only delaying the time it takes to get back to Epox, due to the fact the board has to go via say Newegg first

Epox 8RDA+. I like it for the stability, value, and excellent overclockability. The best part is it costs ~$100...much less than some of the other Nforce2 boards. I have enjoyed the board so much, I now have three. 🙂

i got the abit nf7-s because it was cost effective for the amount features/overclockability it contained...

though i'm getting stability issues because of the voltage problems it has.. it's a good board.. if only they would get the voltages right..

I own the Asus. I voted the Epox.

I'm so freaking damned tired of the built in sound on this piece of shizit mobo I wanna break it into about a ba-jillion pieces, crap on it, burn it, mix the ashes with chicken blood, sacrafice it to Satan and then send it back to Asus for a full refund + pain and suffering.

What problems is it giving you, Shockwave?

Im asking the same question...

Since this thread will probably get a fair amount of A7N8X-Deluxe owners' attention, maybe this is a good place to mention this:

Asus has actually posted a quick little proggy that fixes this problem by switching the center and LFE signals. I believe this fix comes directly from NVIDIA, but it seems that Asus is the only one to post it at the moment. This little program is called NVSwap, and it does a couple of other swaps with other plugs on the motherboard.
and you can go to Penstarsys.com for the link since he's been so nice as to put it on his front page 🙂

I have the a7n8x, and I was wondering what the problem was... I haven't done anything to specifically set up the sound on my board. It seemed to install with the driver package, with no problems through spdif out. It's odd to see the dolby digital signal always on on the reciever. I have to say that Asus' support sucks bad! The Bios chips seem to suck as well. All else about them seems great! I had an Epox board that only lasted 6 months. At that time it seemed like all the 8k7a's were dying. 'Been using MSI and Asus ever since.

Here I go again Dan 😛

I went for the Epox 8RDA+, as I have seen lots of positive threads here about it, and also because the AT review favoured it's high overclocking ability, and also because of the good reports I've seen of Epox as an overclocker's board.

I do not need SATA, so one reason I didn't go for the higher priced boards with it. I also liked the price tag (£80+VAT, which comes out to £94). This board has got my TBred B 1700+ to 2.06GHz, running at 206x10 (this board, like other nForce2 boards, unlocks the multiplier on TBreds), and also because of the high selection of memory ratios, which allows me to run my CPU at 205 FSB, but my crappy no-name PC2100 DDR at 66% of that, for 138MHz. I know this isn't the best for performance, but it allows me high FSB speeds, and interconnect speeds between the CPU, NB, and SB 🙂

Lack of SPDIF output doesn't worry me at the moment, as I do not have anything with a digital reciever. The only thing I would have liked better is seperate Rear and Centre/sub outputs, rather than sharing the line in and mic in ports, as I need the Line In for my TV Card, so I currently have to use a SB Audigy.

Oh yeah, this Poll will more than likely just reflect the number of people that have a specific board, like most polls like this do.

And, you may wish to add a "View Results" option, for those who do not have a nForce2 board, and are looking to get one, and want to see the numbers.
