Metal. The traditional stuff, like Metallica. Thick heavy guitars and crunchy power chords, bone rattling bass, and frantic drums, but minus the gothic face painted freaks scraming into their mic about bleeding to death and how the world is against them.
Perfect.

I would have picked "Metal" if you had it, but I refuse to choose "Modern Rock" even though you could call metal rock, simply because most of today's rock sucks ass. I also love classic rock and oldies.

I like all kinds of music.

lately it's hard/heavy (well the last couple years) and some rap/hiphop too.

Metal is under Modern Rock

You call Megadeth modern rock? You call Iron Maiden modern rock? They're certainly not classic rock! I refuse to vote =)

I've never considered hip hop or rap, music - why would I if no instruments are played, and there's no singing just talking (or, in many cases, just yelling)? It's not music, it's....rhyming.

Country bores me to tears, and becomes just plain silly when I hear it for long periods of time.

I've got a lot of respect for Jazz and Classical though, even if I don't really listen to them.

missing metal.
These days I listen to alot of metal and hip hop, but the majority of my CD collection is classic rock and modern rock. I love jazz also. I can't pick a favorite.

Punk is not modern rock, bands like good charlotte and the like are bubble gum punk.

I listen to Reggae and punk...... REAL punk

aka
Sick of it all
Strung out
NOFX
Guttermouth
No use for a name

and my reggae punk bands:
Pepper
Slightly stoopid
sublime
expendables
cant hang
etc...

***Metal needed***

Metal, sometimes classical (Uematsu live, hmmm), punk, rarely country or pop (strictly some female singers).

I picked classic rock, although I like classical just as much. I just don't listen to it as often because I feel the need to be in a quiet environment and able to devote most of my attention to the music (doesn't happen too often in a dorm)

It's all about classic rock. Good music from a good era. It was real music - real vocals with people really playing real instruments, not all this synthesized sh!t you hear today.

My second choice would be ol' school gangsta rap/hip-hop. The sh!t they play on the radio these days all sounds the same, about money, bitches and rolling on twenties. Gangsta rap, about running the streets, doing your drug deals, making money and not taking sh!t from any niggaz who step into your area is what it's all about. I miss the whole 2Pac/Biggie east vs. west controversy and the West-Coast storytelling rap. At least Eminem/50Cent/Busta Rhymes/DMX and just about everybody else hates Ja Rule. There's some controversy there. Ja Rule is pussy anyway. Who would side with him? Ashanti maybe. That's about it.

Fo' shizzle.

That's a point, but not all electronic music is trance or dance. My favourites are along the lines of Orbital, the Orb and Aphex Twin - electronic but definitely not trance or dance. It's difficult because 'electronic' is such a broad category.
