Woo ltk007! Couldn't have said it any better. Those games ruled, and continue to do so... Space Quest, Kings Quest, Quest for Glory, etc. All of 'em have like at minimum 5 games each, and all rock, from the horrible vga graphics and console to the nice 3d'ish look of Quest for Glory V! Go Sierra!
I actually have a fond rememberance of those early 4 color games. My two favorites on my atari 800 were crush crumble and chomp and temple of apshai.
When I look at a game like diablo where it has slicked up graphics, but in reality all you do is click your mouse button ten-thousand times to complete the game, I miss the ones where you still had to use your own imagination.
I have to say now. Nothing compares with the immersion of online 3D MMORPG gaming for me. In the past I was really enthralled with the Ultima series, the old Infocom text games that I used to play on my Atari ST, and 2 games by FTL: Sundog The Frozen Legacy and DungeonMaster.
Yeah I loved my commorode 64 too! I ould leave it up all night to dload a full floppy of games and play them like crazy. i had boxes and boxes of floppys with a notch cut in them to make them double sided! Remember the Epix 500xj joystick? Man that was a great conroller
you forgot to include the sierra adventure game era. kings quests, space quests, etc. the older ones, where you had to type in what you wanted to do...
i remember my favorite game for the c64
teenage mutant ninja turtles!
that thing took at least 5 minutes just to load if not more
for my XT it was Double Dragon
