Poll--What's Your Favorite CPU/System Stresser/Stability Tester?

Prime 95 and sandra burn in while running loops of quake and 3dmark 2000 😉

IF you can pass this you should be ok

If I want to test a system, I just create a 4 gig Zip file with about 10,000 files. That will stress test any system.

It took my dual celeron 500 (only uses 1 CPU) about 45 minutes to Zip 8,000 files into a 600MB Zip file so I could burn it.

Prime95 is my favorite out of the bunch.

Many programs depend on a major error that cause them or the o/s to crash. A minor miscalculation that others miss with stop Prime95! Something as minor as memory that won't run stable at CAS3 will produce errors in Prime95.

I tested one such system that ran everything stable. Once in a blue moon, Quake would kick you out of a DM back to the game menu! Sure enough, Prime95 would produce an error after a minute! It was the memory. It could not run 2-2-2 at 150 MHz. 🙂

Cheers!

I want to vote both Prime95 and Unreal. While Prime95 is great and reliable, Unreal is more thorough and more sensitive.

For Linuxers the kernal compiler is the best (or worst) one can do to CPU.

I really like using RC5. First because I can continue to run it indefinitely and fully use the cpu so I can continue to watch and try to tweak my full load temps. and secondly because it's so "out of the way" I can run many things over it without it being a problem. Plus it helps our "home team" 🙂

I also loop sisoft sandra tests from time to time.
