Visa $5K
Master Card $5K

I also have a low limit Visa ($1000) that I use for internet purchases.

But I use my personal line of credit because the interest rate is much lower than the credit cards (8% vs 18%).

Cheers,
Aquaman

Heh, more interesting is how much you HAVE actually on those cards. :)

I have about $75K in total available credit on those dreaded plastic things, but currently I owe about $2K total. And, in about 3 months, that'll be ZERO. Not that I ever let it get real high, but, I just found that a little more interesting is all.

1 $1250
and 2 $500's

A lot of you have so much debt it'd take you decades to pay it off.. that's the way credit cards were made tho.. but if you use them right you'll be a happier person..

i am 20. i just got two platinums today. funny thing is that i had the discover classis with a $1000 credit limit, and they wouldn't let me raise it. so, i applied for the discover platinum, and it has a $10,000 limit. go figure

American Express Blue: $2000
MasterCard Platinum: $20,000
Discover Platinum: $10,000

*sigh*

One Master card $800 credit at age 22.
Found out last year that i had a debt of $30,000 under my credit since i was 13.
Aren't I lucky. :(

edit: btw, just call up your card company to raise the limit AND ask them to decrease the interest rate. They'll usually do it over the phone for you. :)

I got 2 Visa and 1 Mastercard

$500 each for Visa and $600 for Mastercard. They really annoy me with these low rates and so anxious to up my limits. Since I'm a student, according to the CC companies, they will not increase my limits, even though my income is many times higher than a typical college student.

oh you know what if you are a student, and pay your bills ontime,

go apply for the "citibank AA advantage "Silver" Mastercard".

Just lie to them say you own a house, make $60K a year, have a checkings and savings, live at the same address for 1.5 years, work at the same (job) for 1.5 years, and they'll give you like $5000 credit line.

Computers don't verify any of the info provided, the only thing people verify are that your phone #'s are in the phone book.

I told a friend of mine to do this, and it worked.

Of course, if its a moral dilemna, then ignore it. But citibank AAdvantage mastercard (silver/gold) are the easiest credit card on the planet to get if you have some credit and no late pays.

Uhmm, well at least in Texas (I don't know about Federal Law), its impossible for you to have credit under age 18. You cannot get any credit. Hell, they won't even sell you a cell phone without a parent/guardian to cosign for you. I'm 17. My parents got me a regular credit card, with $1000 limit. Although my name is on the card that I carry, their name is on the account, and they have a card with the same account # that sits unused. They wanted to keep my purchases isolated from theirs. For some reason, they didn't trust me with their credit cards :)

In general, you should be carefull about having large amounts of credit available. It can hurt you when you try and get a loan/mortgage.

Michael

ps - my limits are my own business. I pay my bill in full every month.

I only have American Express cards so my limit is unlimited but I never (can't) carry a balance. AMEX is nice because you cannot live beyond your means with it which saved me from being in debt in my younger years.

Minimum $9,000, maximum $10,000 with one in between. One is for building credit rating (had it for 8 years), one is for everyday purchases for Sony points towards merchandise (paid off every month), the last is for a balance I am whittling away at low interest (not maxed, thank God).

I agree completely. It WILL hurt you. The more credit you have, the lower your credit rating (as the credit people think that you can run up huge debts and the chance of paying them back is therefore lower).

If you haven't seen your credit report, you can get one for free (maybe someone has the links). It should be over 700, that is usually the cutoff for good rates on car/mortgage loans. It will also show you cards you have forgotten about but are still active (these should be CANCELLED).

Don't carry balances. In fact we have no debt at all! AMEX is unlimited and other cards are around 5-6K. Don't really care. Use AMEX all the time.
