Getting one next march, please vote. I'm partial to the 4Runner but I'd like opinions!

(Thinking about '96)

Unless you intend on actually 'off-roading' in it, then none.

If you are intending to 'off-road' in it, then Jeep.

lol @ Honda Pathfinder

What are your qualifications for the SUV? What are you looking for it to do/not to do? I'd say Explorer or a 2 door full size Tahoe but don't know what you're looking for

Or Hummer....

amish 🙂

😉 word. all he has to worry about is affording that. 😀

If I didn't intend to take it off road, I'd go with a Mazda Tribute.

If I was going off road, I'd go with a Jeep of some sort.

if you are saying that, why bother with a poll?

Ford Excursion with a turbo diesel V8. They can be easily be made to over 500hp and 8000ft/lbs of torque with a chip, propane injection, exhaust work, etc.....

They also get 20-22mpg on the highway(diesel of course).

Isuzu makes one of the best 4-wheel drive systems. I bought one back in 95 and it's still going strong. Hell, I needed it badly for the Buffalo winters.

It all depends what you're using it for. Utility vs. Sportiness vs. a combination of both. Remember to check out the cargo room in each of them. I took a look at the 4Runner, Montero Sport, etc. and would rather have my Rodeo. They made it even better now... mine was the older (but better looking) style --> 95 Rodeo. Don't forget the 10-year warranty. 😉

The Pathfinder isn't bad at 240hp now and neither is the Chevy Trailblazer at 270hp, but again, it depends on what you need it for.

And any SUV bashers should just save your breath and get the hell out of this thread. Do you see anybody complaining about sports car owners not needing the ability to go 150mph... or do the 1/4 mile in 13 seconds? Let people buy whatever the fuc$ they want with their money. Go check out Canada sometime. Minivans, pickups, and SUVs all over the place. Do they complain about each other? Do they complain about how much gas it may waste (racing anyone?) or how they can't see past anyone? Give me a break. I don't even know what ego has to do with an SUV. Where the hell do you live?

I'll be using it to go skiing mostly, and camping during the summer (maybe snow camping also).

besure check this site before you buy any model...

i'm the owner of '96 model 4Runners... had only 2 major recalls over the past 5-6 years (free of charge)... and 1 to 2 minor fix on the car that i have to paid...

I would say toyota makes the best car over any other company... it's your best bang for the bucks!

if someone could find the link for 2002 best-made car company report... toyota is still on the #1 spot as usual...

IMPORTANT:

if you decide to get the pre-owned 4Runners, make sure you bought it back to toyota dealer and have to check on the 2 major services (Gaskit and rear spring for non-4wd type, if i remembers correctly)... it's free even tho you're not the first-hand owner...
