@$*^ Bloated Winamp3 is annoying as hell. I love the MMD3 skin too much that I can't go back to winamp 2.9. The problem is that it's buggy as hell.

There has gotta be a better alternative to Winamp!

WMP sucks, looks annoying as hell, almost as bloated as WA3
FooBar, puh-lease, I like pretty shiny things k? ;)
Sonique2? hahahaha
iTunes, never used it, but the mac guys at work say it's the best. To bad it's Mac ONLY.

dang mods moved my thread from ATOT, otherwise there'd be a lot more results. oh well... I'm liking Winamp 5 so far, pretty much winamp2 engine with MMD3 skin :) Perfect... so far.

All it needs is a good DSP built in, using OSS/3D right now

I voted for (and currently use) WinAMP 2.91. This is only because SysMetrix is not able to act as a control for Sonique, which I prefer over all the choices (except linux plyers, don't use linux, can't try the players). By the way, does no one use Sonique that it isn't on the list?

2nd time you said this. Maybe you should say on your machine. I got foobar running 0%CPU and 3.6 MBs of Usage and it's been running for 3 days.
Also, some software spike when it's used while other software programs are open. Also depends on what type of CPU/ setup someone has.

I use Foobar

Winamp 2.91, always. Been a Winamp user since 2.0! Many don't know (or just forgot) that Winamp used to be a shareware app, though it had no nag dialogs and would never expire.... Around version 2.4 they gave up on the shareware idea.

I will prefer Winamp 5 when it is finally released. Winamp 5 is just Winamp 2.x with some of Winamp 3's features added via plugins. The leaked Winamp 5 Alpha can already load most Winamp 3 skins, even the MMD3 skin everyone goes on about :D With a Winamp 3 skin it stays responsive. It handles WA3 skins faster than Winamp 3 does :)

I tried Foorbar breifly, but did not like the interface. I prefer CD player style controls and I cannot part with the Media Library in Winamp 2.91. Could not get Foobar's EQ to sound right ethier.....

Using 2.91 right now. The sound is a bit lower than WMP9 but it loads a heck of a lot faster and takes up a smaller footprint on my screen. :)

The organizational capabilities of Media Jukebox blows all other players away. Try it and you won't want anything else.

I've got Winamp 2.81 right now, but will probably grab 2.91 soon; then I'll wait to see how 5 is once it is finished.
