It's a piece of grey plastic about a 1/8" thick.
(It is actually meant as a mouse pad, it's for like drafters or something...it's got measurements and stuff on it, I don't remember where I got it)

It's perfectly flat, and it doesn't attract dust like those hideous cloth things.

It's not as good as 3M PMS, but it works. I'm planning on buying an optical soon then I'll probably use nothing.

Well, it's not compulsory to have a mouse pad, but I have to have something to keep my wrist warm.

Besides, I have been using a mouse pad for about 13 years now, and I don't think I'd be able to use a computer right without one!

(mine is just a standard pad... with cartoon characters all over)

cheers

Currently I'm using a friends 3M PMS and its much better than none at all. I'm using a Logitech optical mouse (the one w/ the cool Logitech LED on the top). :) But I'm thinking bout getting an Everglide Attack pad since I don't have room for a Giganta or RatPadz on my desk. The 3M PMS looks ok but it looks like its warping some after some usage. And it looks like its hard on the contact pts. on these mice.

I had the 3m PMS(bad name for a mouse pad btw) until I got the Logitech optical mouse. No mouse pad now, just use the desktop, works great.

I use Micorsoft mousepad. And yes there's is a Microsoft store @ SnaFrancisco. The mouse pad works great on regular mouse. But not optical ones. It a bit reflective.

None > Go Optical...

Actually the best surface I have found for my optical is the fake wood grain on my desk...
