I'm kinda curious what makes this non fat milk you only drink different from skim milk.

anno

the texture is different. i could taste the extra thickness in skim milk.

soy milk gives you boobies

(have a refreshing, cool glass of .... estrogen!)

ps - you forgot Straight Cream!

Skim or 1%. I'm used to skim, so 1% almost tasts like a milkshake.

FYI, "whole" milk is 4%, so 2% has half the fat of whole milk, not 2%.
Whole milk is 3.25% 😛

soymilk has estoregen in it?

Once upon a time "skim milk" was what was left after the cream had been skimmed off by the cream separator. It was essentially whole milk.

BTW, you forgot buttermilk in your poll.

I thought skim milk was non fat.. so I looked it up. 🙂

Skim milk is now called Fat Free milk. This change occurred about 3 years ago when the USDA changed the milk labelling laws. The USDA defined four types of milk. The definition is based on the amount of butterfat (cream) that is allowed in the milk. The types of milk are:

Whole - Minimum butter is 3.25 %
2% - Reduced fat - 2.0 - 2.5% butterfat
1% - Reduced fat - 1.0 - 1.5% butterfat
Fat Free - 0 - 0.5% butterfat

that appears to say there's no such thing as skim milk anymore..

Not estrogen per se, but it does contain phytoestrogens.

Cows milk contains estrogen and progesterone, especially if it is non-organic.

As mentioned before, skim milk is milk which the cream has been skimmed from it. When you take milk fresh from the cow, the cream (mostly) rises to the surface. You can then use a cream separator to take the cream off. Whatever is left is skim milk.

This process doesn't remove all of the cream from the milk, hence the 2%, 1%, etc names.

it's all because I'm very much older than you. 🙂 (well.. I don't know that for a fact, but I am very much older than 90some% of you so odds are in favor of me being right on this one).

publix sells this milk.. that is called.. skim plus. or non-fat plus. or.. xtra or.. something. obviously I can't remember what it's called. it's nonfat milk but it has additional milk solids in.. like, I guess, adding powdered milk to skim heh.. there I go again.. to non fat milk 🙂 sorta, only it doesn't taste nasty like powdered milk (and perhaps powdered milk doesn't taste nasty anymore either, it's been.. probably 35 or 40 years since I was forced to consume any.. instant mashed potatoes have evolved quite nicely in that time, perhaps instant milk has too.. I'm not inclined to find out!).. anyway, it thickens it up a bit.. which would make you hate it, but for those of us that were raised on whole milk.. old people like me 😛 .. it makes fat-free milk drinkable. well.. I don't drink much milk plain anymore anyway and I could survive with skim 🙂 on my cereal but it's horrid in coffee.. this.... enhanced version of nonfat milk produces the desired lightening and.. milkifying in a cup of coffee.. so sometimes I buy that. 🙂

chocolate. I don't like regular milk, but I will drink skim milk. Anything else is like drinking phlegm; it's so thick.
