you can blame Nintendo for that one 😉

their refusal to go with CD games for N64 was one of the main factors that drove Square away.
Yeah, I know. I still don't like it. 😛

Final Fantasy 3 (US) gets my vote. Nice story, excellent graphics for the SNES and wonderful music (FAR SUPERIOR to the hideous music in the psx Final Fantasy games). I agree with the previous posts regarding the characters being interchangable since they could all learn the same magic but they all had their nice personalities.

Its funny giving everyone the ultima spell and using some item or skill that allows them to do magic twice (forgot since its been years). So the whole party goes nuts with ultima..no boss stood a chance.
FF7 is the only original FF game for PSX, IIRC.

EDIT: I got pwned. FF7, FF8, FF9

What about FF8 and FF9?? Those were original PSX Final Fantasy games. FF7 and 8 were ported to pc eventually. FF9 seems to be the forgotton Final Fantasy for some reason...not sure why. Its a decent game and I actually liked the return to the old school artstyle.

As for my "hideous music" remark. I simply do not like the music in FF7 and 8. I don't think there is one memorable track in any of them (though most fans keep pointing to the last boss tune in FF7) and I do not like the quality of the sound. I think FF 2 and 3 (US SNES) have far superior music. Just my opinion of course. If you enjoy the music to FF7 and 8 then more power to you my friend!
