So you voted number 4, I assume.

Thanks for insulting anyone who votes for #1 and #2. Nice tolerance there.
I wasn't insulting anyone at all. I truly do not believe in make-believe beings in space. Sorry that doesn't fit with *your* beliefs but nice of you to insult me anyway.

Such a fine Christian you are.
You have no idea what my faith is. I've never stated on this board what religion I am/not.

Such a fine Bigot you are..

Go troll another thread.
It's apparent what your "faith" is.
No, it really isn't. Feel free to quote me on anything I've ever said on my faith. Your bigotry, however, is very apparent. Why didn't you do the respectable thing like that other intolerant bigot Todd33 and just shamble back off to under your rock when you lost the election? Seems you are trying to emulate him.
*I'm* a bigot? Because I'm intolerant of the those who are intolerant?

Get a fvcking clue. If you want to see a bigot, just look in that mirror. You'll see one staring back at you.

Wow calling out another member who's not in this thread. Very dirty, very alchemize.

Oh really? According to you - your post would be crapping. Troll much?

CsG

Well, I would have PMed it but certain people rather see it on the board... people like you. (This will be my last post on this subject matter, crap on Csg, it's the new fad with you).

Hahaha - you just had to try the same BS here in this thread:p Shall I post the PMs so we can all see what you consider "crapping"?
Hmm... Yes, I suggest you put down that shovel and climb out of the hole you thought would be a good idea to dig.(a good start would be to hold yourself to your last post[and PM] promise)
**********************************************************************

Anyway - I voted #1
Read my sig.:)

Also, if there is a god he's surely not a perfect being. By definition he cannot be so because if he were he wouldn't have been able to create us imperfect beings in the first place. Therefore, if there is a god that created us, he must be imperfect and have a flaw or flaws. Kind of ruins the entire concept of "god" for me.

Totally unsubstantiated. Why can't God make something imperfect? He can do anything he wants.

I don't think it would sadden you. I think you would only feel the saddness you cover over with belief. You believe in meaning but you also believe that you need meaning. What if meaninglessness is meaningless too? What if everything you could possibley ever desire you already have there under those tears?

I think this recording will summarize what's wrong with that perspective if you care to listen.

I didn't get too much past where I was told that later I'd be told how to purchase more material. Have you a cliff notes version. Thanks

I could never get off on a God who would make a world intentionally imperfect so that millions of children suffer.

Sorry.

I think there is some higher authority. Whats its purpose? I would assume for satisfying its own ego and giving it the ability to watch Fox 5's "When Humans Do Stupid Things v 2" 24/7 365. Now for an afterlife, the only people that know that 100% are dead, so whats the rush in finding out the truth there? If there's an afterlife than yippie if not than I enjoyed my stay on earth.

I'd have to say that I'm a soft Atheist. When pressed, I have to admit to a rational amount of doubt regarding the whole matter.

However, I assume that there is no god.

We can perceive leptons; after all, the electron is such a particle. Our evidence for quarks is more indirect, though, as we cannot separate them from each other. The attraction of the strong force increases with distance, instead of decreasing like the electromagnetic and gravitational forces do. Accelerator experiments indirectly show the existence of point particles inside protons and they continually verify predictions based on quarks to incredible degrees of precision, so they're our best working model by far.

It would sadden me to think all the marvelous complexity of the universe was a random thing.

Random != not IntelligentDesign

There are a lot of options between randomness and intelligent design.

It's because you are a good person and can feel god somewhere within. Fish too are in search of a mysitcal truth called water.

No need for pointless insults.

Religion is fantasy make-believe. If you find that insulting it's your problem. Once you can offer proof for existance of god or other religious beliefs, it will stop being fantasy make-believe. Until then, stop whining when people point out truths about your beliefs.

That is exactly what I find remarkable about all of the so-called athiests. How are they proving the inexistence of a higher power?

Where to start...

First of all, how does one define perfection? Does perfection even exist? Is there an ideal? How can something be perfect? To be perfect, something would have to be everything and nothing all at once.

Let's say we were able to define perfection. Is that what you would give your children? Why? What good does perfection do anyone? If everything is perfect, everything is identical. Identical is boring. In perfection, everything is already known. If everything is known, there can be no growth. Without growth what's the point?

My brain hurts.

The burden of proof is upon the believers. Proving negatives makes baby jesus cry....

Uhh..Athiests are believers too..believers in the inexistence of a higher power. Agnostics don't believe one way or the other because there isn't proof. Get it now?

My faith and my knowledge of science (I am studying in a scientific field) have nothing to do with each other. They both peacefully co-exist.

Besides, I'm a militant agnostic. I don't know and you don't know either. ;)

If you would ask for forgiveness and begin to pray, you would see that we DO know. We have all sinned and fell short of the glory of God, but Jesus gives us a path to be saved. You CAN know 100% that you are saved. If all of you that don't believe would just trust God's word, you would see, there is a God.

But they already have.
I doubt it.
You already have. Why else would you have attacked my opinion for no reason?

(Yeah, this could go on forever - feel free to elaborate if you have anything substansive [sic] to add)
You first.
Umm.. I'm not the one arguing anything here. This was a thread about how much faith people had. You chose to jump in and begin talking about imaginary things in outer space, which has nothing to do with the vast majority of religions. I suppose if someone had professed to believe in such a thing, then your comment would have had some merit, but as it stands, you simply posted some irrelevant opinion that did nothing to futher (meaningful) discourse. I bet they have a name for people who do that...
