How long does it take your PC to boot to either the Windows/Linux/Mac desktop login?

i'd check, but that would require me to (a) get a stopwatch and (b) restart my computer, both of which im too lazy to do. ill report later with any updates on this situation!

edit: anyone know of any software that would do both of these for you?

i'm just guessing, but probably about 2 minutes.
i use win2k, plus i load alot of things at startup (ultramon, sysmeter2, secureCRT, hoverdesk, windowblinds, trillian, innoculateIT, and sometimes serv-U).

who cares about bootup times if you only boot up twice a month, a la win2k :)

Yeah my bootup is quite slow. I use the A7V133 and have a RAID array. The promise loader has always taken a good while to identify the array then sits there for a few seconds after doing so. I wish there was a way to speed this process up. Any ideas? And I run Win2k and load a lot of software, so my boot times are long, oh well.

I am getting about 15 seconds to the W2k log in screen on my just put together Athlon 1.2Ghz with 256MB of 266Mhz RAM. On the other hand, my PII-266Mhz laptop with 192MB of RAM takes about 2 minutes (long enough to hit the bathroom and it will still be starting).

about 5-6 minutes in win2K server.
dam active directory and all those other server stuffs.
I'm using 171MB of ram right after bootup, and after I open up outlook express, Internet Explorer, etc (the usual stuff). it's getting close to 200MB ram used up. sad thing is I only have 256MB ram.

About 14 seconds on my emachine, and 21 seconds on my custom rig. I too hate long bootup times and i have nothing in my startup except driver stuff. The funny thing is my 633mhz celeron emachine boots up so damn fast compared to my custom rig.

Im running in around 30 seconds. At one time I had it faster with some of the tweaks you can do, but I have not bothered to do them since my last format/install.

TBIRD at 1 gig, 150fsb.

2 minutes. But I need to do a reinstall. Looking forward to it when my new Inspiron 8000 gets here.
