I voted 6800GT, but if you can find a moddable to xt x800pro then I think they have the same value overall.

I'm an ATi fan but the 6800GT is better, and it's been proven before.

the X800 is fine, it does the job, and it can run everything just FINE, but the 6800GT runs some things FASTER!

:)

I'm the friend in question :p

ATI has always made better quality cards, so what makes this case the exception? Most of my friends say ATI, but most of you are saying Nvidia. Who do I trust

actually that's not true. ATi has only made better cards when the 9700's came out and held the crown throughout the 9800XT. NV had thier flop with the FX line, but other than that they were the top dog (not counting early 3dfx days).

Look, sure, nvidia performs better on 3dmark (by 900 pts, wow) but really you have to take into account the company, and the market. First, the company, nvidia just cant compete with ati anymore, look what they had to do just to get close to the x800 xt, they over clocked the gt and stuck a huge fan on it to cool it off. Thats not the kind of company I want in my computer. Second, the market, ati controls the majority of the video card market, or it will in the near future. And video game makers know this. Games are being released with special ATI specific upgrades and coding features to better suit their video cards. Ex. Half-life 2 (November! yay!!)

Also, you have to remember, the first time doom3 was at e3 they asked ati and nvidia to give their best video cards to run the game. Ati, they gave them the beta version of the 9700, not modded, just the way it was. Nvidia gave id a Liquid Nitrogen cooled video card! They had to over clock their card so much that water cooling wasnt even enough.

In this poll, nvidia might have the upper hand just in terms of benchmarks, but ati is better quality, better game support, and better looks.

and btw. that last one is personal opinion

the gt is the better performer by almost every benchmark vs the pro. ATI has not always made the better card. no brand has ever stayed at top forever, and because ati and nvidia are so neck and neck overall, its not difficult for one to fall behind, but as far as the gt and pro goes, the gt is superior. i was an ati fanboy, but all i care now is whoever makes the better card. :)

yea, cause we all know russia is the vid card king. lol

NVIDIA has been investing into the Russian market for a number of years and these figures reflect our efforts and those of our partners in the region. Furthermore, NVIDIA has also been the first company to recognize the growing importance of the enormous talent within the Russian game development community.

also,

Apart from information we receive from our readers we've got some interesting data from Russian distributors.

And on top of that, if youd read your data, 80% of the market has cards worth less then $60, ATI's good cards start in the hundreds. which only 17% can seem to afford in russia. They must still be using tech from 1999.

I hope your not from russia, oops, no i dont
