i guess my post was ignored, check overclockers.com review of the millenium cooler. it beats the swiftech 462! You can attach that 68cfm 48db screamer to the swiftech 462 and it will only be on par with the millenium cooler. actually under some measurements the millenium cooler has a c/w of .13 which is far lower than anything reported for air cooling so far. best thing is that it's quite and can be had for less than 40 bucks

I love my thermoengine...nice and quiet, works good and looks cool...I like having the option of strapping on a 7k fan and having it be one of the best performing hsf's out there...

And if you believe the 'Millenium' cooler equals (or bests) the Swiftech MC462-A, I've got some land for sale at about $0.01 per acre.

I'm supposed to be getting one of those millennium glaciators. We'll see how it compares to a MC462.

Cheers!

did u even read overclockers.com review of the millenium cooler and then compare it to their review of the 462 with both the sanyo denki fan and 68cfm delta fan???

fortunately both reviews have one common testing platform which is the iwill kk266 with the 83watts generating tbird so you can directly compare the results. and these are their c/w results:

462 with sanyo denki .20
462 with 68dfm delta .18
millenium with stock fan .13

i know it's hard to believe how this "little" cooler manages to outperform the big 462. What's even more impressive is that it does it with less noise and it's even priced reasonably.

only disadvantage this cooler has is its weight. people that often use their rig for lan party may want to skip this cooler unless they use a lot of care during transportation. For a stationary system, this is the cooler to get if you are willing to spend more than 35 bucks on a hsf.

I wonder if the millennium guys are going to sell them exclusively. I wrote them about reselling them, but they did not get back to me. Looks very promising. Yes the MC462 is a nice cooler, but it's also $40+ more than a Taisol CGK760092, which is very good, especially in the quiet department.

Yes, and there are several discrepancies and unknowns in their "test" which make me not believe the results.

"fortunately both reviews have one common testing platform which is the iwill kk266 with the 83watts generating tbird so you can directly compare the results. and these are their c/w results:"

Since when does a 1330 Bird take down 83 watts? IIRC, it is around 72-73W.

"462 with sanyo denki .20

Again, take this with a LARGE grain of salt. See above.

"i know it's hard to believe how this "little" cooler manages to outperform the big 462. What's even more impressive is that it does it with less noise and it's even priced reasonably."

Uh-huh. Funny how I'm running at 1512MHz and pulling no more than 36C under full load. I'm not convinced.

Sorry, until someone gets ahold of one and does a proper comparison with more details...

Pabster,

Yes, and there are several discrepancies and unknowns in their "test" which make me not believe the results.

what exact discrepancies and unknowns are you talking about?

Since when does a 1330 Bird take down 83 watts? IIRC, it is around 72-73W.

it's an overclocked 1330 tbird at 1.85 volts. I get close to 80 watts using radiate, they maybe using a different method to calculate the wattage

Uh-huh. Funny how I'm running at 1512MHz and pulling no more than 36C under full load. I'm not convinced.

thats pretty good temp and close to the results overclockers.com got with their 462. a 1333 tbird at 1.85 generates a comparable amount of heat as 1.5 ghz tbird at 1.8

Sorry, until someone gets ahold of one and does a proper comparison with more details...[/i] >>

overclockers.com is known by the people in the know to produce the most reliable cooling test results.

Pabster, you only pointed out 1 discrepancy and if you read closer you would see the reason they list their CPU as 83watts is because they have the voltage up at 1.85 instead of the stock 1.75.

EDIT: doh, didn't refresh the thread while I was reading other stuff and got beaten to the punch.

Also, the CPU will NEVER draw what you see in radiate UNLESS it's 100% loaded. The only way to assure this is use BURNk6.EXE or CPURAPER.EXE.

Cheers!

i trust overclocker.com especially since mikewarrior also thinks highly of them, so their review is enough to convince me. Anyways, they finally started to accept orders. Since I am on the waitlist mine should arrive pretty soon I hope.
