Standard features: Tiger + iLife '06, Apple Remote + Front Row, Airport Extreme + Bluetooth, DVI Video Out, USB, FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet.
1.5ghz Core Solo 667 mhz fsb, 512mb memory, integrated graphics 60GB drive, combo drive - $599
Second model with Core Duo - 1.67, 80GB drive + SuperDrive - $799

Hmm, price INCREASE.

Those are cheap, no>

Old mini started at $499

Edit: But this obviously has much more to offer.

$300 more? Give me a break. And interestingly, they only claim 1.5-2x faster while on the Macbook Pros, they claimed 5x faster. I guess they got called out on it too many times.

STILL no word on FM tuner even in the boombox? or has no one blogged that yet (reading engadget and valleywag)?

A loaded Mini was easy to push to $800 or more, & even the base model with the standard features of the $599 core single would have been more than $599.

The $499 Mini was really useless, the $599 doesn't seem to be.

Booo...total dissapointment. A faster mini is cool I suppose, but its nothing new. Leather cases who cares, and overpriced ipod speaker docks for the bourgeois douchebags that think apple is the greatest company ever.

I'm really liking the sound of the Core Duo Mac Mini. I'm saving my pennies for one now. And I'm oh so glad I didn't buy a tricked out G4 unit last year...

The apple store is getting pounded right now. It took 40 seconds to be able to get in... And I'm on a decent cable connection, too. 😛

where is this speaker option that they put into the update of ipods??? or is the update not available yet?

The apple store shows the new minis as having Intel GMA950 graphics. How does that compare with the older models? (Radeon 9200?)

Moving from dedicated card to integrated graphics seems like a step back to me, we'll have to wait for benchmarks.

damnit! I was so damn busy dealing with our security audits that I missed the whole showing 🙁

but reading this thread shows that apple disappointed a lot of people...

where's that touchscreen ipod with XM?

$349 for the speakers...they must be out of their minds. And people will still buy it. That is money better spent for speakers for your PC so you can use itunes. Hell, you could get a HTIB for that much dough!

You KNOW Apple's iPod speakers are overpriced when even Bose can beat them in price by $50 🙂
