If it doesn't have a 1A-10, 4A-40, or 5A-50 leading the VIN, it's an import.

i consider non-american company to be "imports." if an american company owns/has stake in a foreign company, it's still an "import" in my mind. ferrari and the like... while would be technically an import to me, it falls under "god damn I wish I had the money."

but usually, import tends to fall to the asian imports when I hear ppl talking about it.

I only really put imports together with jap cans and korean cars. Now, yes you can say some cars are imported from germany or whatever, it does not mean the same thing. An import car is a type of car, small to mid size, in most cases made by jap's.
You say exotic about the higher priced cars with limited manufacture.

Subaru = Best cars in the wold
Acura = 2nd best (yes i know acura is an american company, so its basicly honda im saying)

those trash ass tin cans will probably outsell any mid-size america can throw at them. watch the sonata sell like hotcakes.

oh btw personally i'd refer to jap/korean as imports, and BMW's and merc's as "european"

actually i just call them by the name and don't generalize.

I don't want to type out all of my answers, but I was always with the consensus. The only close one was Jaguar, and I voted for import, which is the majority, but that may change, looking at the results.

You're a dumbass. Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini are definitely imports.

If you meant Japanese you should have just said so...

Technically the GTO is. It is made by Holden and imported into the US. It is unique to other brands on this list in that it is the only car singled out and thus you must consider its origin when answering. It is manufactured by Holden (yes, I know Holden is a GM subsidiary) in Australia. It is not a domestic IMO.

I dunno...my Mustang was assembled at a Mazda Plant in Flat Rock, Michigan alongside Mazda 6's...
my Camry was assembled in Georgetown, Kentucky.

"Import" to me means Hondas, Nissans, Toyotas, etc. Pretty much all the racer fanboi cars for under 30k.

Toyotas are built in Kentucky, Mercedes in Alabama, Honda in Ohio and other states. Some parts are american some are foreign but, things have changed, but the engineering is still foreigns which as a whole is superior in terms of reliability to the reliabilty of American engineering.

No...Civics are imports...

And even some imports like Supras and 300ZXs are only fractions of the prices of Lambos and Ferraris, so I wouldn't consider them expensive either.

anyone who voted that the GTO is not an import can now hand over their breeding card, because they are too stupid to contribute to the gene pool.

and eyemwing can hand over his, as well, because anyone who thinks ferrari, lamborgini, or aston martin are domestic cars (i.e. "not an import," because there is no other possible meaning for this phrase) should be shot on sight.

congratulations on being the source of the stupidest thing i've heard yet today! your prize is an "owned," courtesy ATOT poul consensus.

the only remotely debatable brand on the list is jaguar, which has become little more than ugly lincolns and don't quite count as "british" anymore...

well, actually, for any given class of car, imported cars DO cost more. and imported brands have all the most expensive cars. the civic is a perfect example, since you can get an "equivilent" american car for less money. and america has nothing to offer to compete with even mainstream high-end sedans, let alone the maybach's or bentley's of the world.

you = owned yourself.

Haven't been around much have you? :D

Generally I consider Dodge, GM, and Fr0d to be the domestic cars and things like Honda, Nissan and BMW to be imported. Even though all of them have cars not built in the country their headquartered in.

No you=owned.

There are no "equivalent" American cars for less money (I include reliability in my definition of equivalent...and managed to spell it correctly).
