"no nation has any rights at all, only those that their military can afford them on the world stage. Or do you think that we can all play patty cake in the UN building in New York while Middle Eastern fundamentalists blow the world to hell?"
I can't tell what this has to do with each nation having an inherent right to self-defense. The US says it has that right, all the time. How can America believe this, while DEMANDING that others disarm, without us looking like a bunch of whiny, hypocritical punk-asses? Or does that matter to you?
Nukes for any country that can afford them is the only way to go.
I really don't want to see the entire Middle East start arming itself with nukes. Given that most of these countries can't even control terrorist activities within their own borders, allowing them to have nukes would be a mistake.
It's called parity, or if you're old enough too remember, MAD (mutually assured destruction). Contrary to what Bush is saying, nukes make sh1tty first strike weapons. You light one off without a damn good reason, you and everyone around you is dead of dying a horrible death PDQ.
And please, don't give me the "run by terrorists" and "madmen" thing. Most of the "Worse than Hitler!!!" crowd we've had, and have, relationships with all the time. At least TRY to look at it from the perspective of a country like Iran. They've seen us destroy Iraq on one hand (Iraq=no nukes), while we treat Korea to free food, fuel and god know what else (Korea=has nukes). Any country that DOESN'T want them is stupid.
