I dunno, is there a difference? What do you call it when they're singing as opposed to rapping? I guess you would just consider that pop. I think of hip hop as singing (not rapping), but without any real musical instruments.

rap is the crap fed to you on radio and mtv (chingy, nelly)

hip hop is the stuff that doesnt get any radio airplay, and is considered "underground". its more complex, but ill just keep it simple.

Rap and hip hop are not two different styles of music. All rap is hip hop music...all the stuff on MTV is hip hop, it just isn't good, for the most part.

As much as Id like to agree with you, i don't.

There are a minute few genres that don't have any good music.

Good rock/blues/metal = good classical = good country = good R&B (Otis Redding, FI (for you uncultured types, he wrote such things as RESPECT, Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa, and Satisfaction))

> bad country (twangy anything) > (c)rap > new R&B (where they left out the R and the B, but kept the name) > manufactured pop > dance music of any kind

Country: CDB is great. Unfortunately that's most of what is left that is still work listening to; te rest died.
