f we put them through basic training they wouldn't be fat and lazy.
Somehow I don't think one pass at basic will turn them into lean, mean, fightin' machines. Have you seen the size of some of the young folks today?

Oh right, it's illegal to hit them. Ya can't even use psychological torture in basic any more. I think it's like one of those outdoorsy bonding weekends companies do now.

I already got drafted once in 1965 - I'd go again if they thought I could be of any help.

They need a lot of guys with glasses, hearing aids and walkers, right? 😛

Well sh*t, how old are some of the NCOs? I'm sure there are chiefs and master sergeants in their fifties. Those are some people I wouldn't want to mess with :Q

Not many. It's a young man's game. Especially the Marines and the Army. Most guys are gone in their late 30's early 40's.

Stop gessing on how the draft is if in fact it was instated Selective Service
As for the youth of today being to fat and lazy, I know when I went thru Marine Corps Boot Camp if you were overweight or couldn't do the standards you were either sent back or sent to PCP (Physical Reconditioning Platoon)(aka Endless Fat bodies platoon), so the nice cake walk of 13 weeks in Boot Camp could turn into forever. There was a borderline fat guy I knew in high school, about 6'0' 205lbs, and he got sent to PCP and was in boot camp a total of 5 months, now is that a party and vacation or what?

Since most of you are asians on this board, what if you are summon during a draft knowing that you will be fighting your "motherland" ... ie., china, korea, vietnam...? For those who says yes, would you still go?

It's this weekend isn't it? I made myself eligible (as a high school student), but I doubt the NBA will take me since I was cut from the J.V. team in 9th grade and haven't tried out since (they just didn't understand my 1337 skillz, ya know?). What the heck, the NFL and MLB bypassed me too. I'm begginning to think a career in pro sports isn't for me. I'm too good for those l0s3rz anyhow. The NHL draft is coming up as well, mabey I'll make myself eligible for that. I'll only play for the Sabres though, they best understand that. I should really try to learn how to ice skate between now and then.
