Ok, I've come to the conclusion that living in the city SUCKS.

The first big problem with living in the city is that you have to walk everywhere. You can't have a car and if you do you're gonna get parking tickets up the wazoo and have to pay out the a33 everytime you wanna stop someplace and have to carry hundreds of quarters everywhere you go.

The second big problem with living in the city is that you can't go get stuff you want easily. There is never, say, a Staples just down the street. Or a Wendy's over yonder. Or a Best Buy over there. You always have to put up with some miserable mom and pop operation that tastes awful, has bad service or is terribly overpriced.

The third big problem with living in the city is that it's not nearly as convenient as living in the 'burbs. God how I miss just getting in my car, driving to work with the AC on and the radio playing, parking in the parking garage, neffing on ATOT for 8 hours, and then driving home in the exact same fashion, perhaps stopping at BK for some onion rings on the way back. Sure, there may be some congestion but that's far better than the noise and sweat and grime and smoke and other assorted sh#t that clouds your commute when you have to put up with a several block hike to get to your daily destination in urbia.

City, you can go screw yourself. Once I graduate, I am heading back to the 'burbs.

What thinks ye?

i like living in the city.

I have my own space at home. don't need to drive unless I'm going to work. Albertsons, 7-11, all within 2 blocks. and who needs BestBuy when I have 3 Frys within 10 min drive, another 2 within 20 min.

Well.. it seems we go in cycles.

I've lived about half my life all together in the sticks. The other half was lived in town.

We move up to the mountains(about a 45 min drive from Portland), stay there for a year or two.. get tired of that, move back to the city.. get tired of the city, move back to the mountains..

Seems to be how it goes ever since I can remember.

Lived in the sticks for 19 years, moved to the burbs for 8, now I moved back to the sticks....have a 140 mile round trip to work/day. It's worth it though. suburban yuppie pricks and their f'n beemers - they can all lick my ball$

I live in the burbs right now but would prefer living out in the boonies. My parent's have their house on a lake in Alabama and it is awesome minus the lack of broadband. :)

I live in the city of Chicago. And I love walking everywhere or taking Public Trans. And for stuff its not near...yes it is! I mean if you need staples to get into a hot deal specifically and thats your biggest concern then re-evaluate where you live. But everything I need is near.

I hate the burbs!

I say its a toss up between the sticks/boonies and the "burbs". No city for me. Although here in hawaii...the whole state is virtually suburban.

Although I have always lived in the main city of the metro area where I resided it still is suburban. Public transportation in New Orleans really isn't very good. About the only time I use it is to take the street car from Uptown to Downtown cause it's cheaper to pay $2.50 for the round trip instead of $10 or $15 to park in a garage. You just have to look out for all the weirdos in the Quarter.

I'm living in Boston right now...I don't think it sucks at all. It's a little different than living in a smaller city/suburbs with all of the walking and not that many open spaces.

The sticks. In my opinion the burbs or the city would be the purest form of hell imaginable.

Strangely enough though, given the option between those two I'd probably live in the city. I figure the burbs are just basicly the illusion of space anyway considering you can usually put your back up against your house and spit on your neighbors house. So you might as well have the convenience of the city the way I figure it. As long as it's a good sized city that is.

I live in the boonies, on a dirt road, with no cable, DSL or sewer . . . the valley is 10 miles long and has 3,000 inhabitants . . . we just got our only traffic light this year (and a cell phone tower!) . . .

. . . the good news is that I am 20 miles (20 minutes) from downtown Palm Springs. :D

Best of both worlds.

I live in the city. Austin. I ride the bus to class. I drive everywhere else. I can go to a show on a whim, or go to the country and eat barbecue. I like living somewhere and not nowhere.
