I downloaded Opera 5 2days ago and at first thought what the hell this is crab...

you know you get those commercials in the upper right hand corner and say this is the most annoying thing in the world, and then they want you to pay?

But then I kind of got used to it and thought well that isn't too bad how Opera is made up...

There are a lot of nice features and programs included...

ex. there is something like gozilla! already in opera included and you have really easy access to your computer and the windows are flipping smoothly...

well I don't know, but then there is other stuff that isn't too great, for example the java feature sometimes doesn't work... or in some cases it never works... I tried to access my banking account, which opens from a SSL server in an java applet... does not work...? I don't know why...

Well but anyway now I am using it more than IE...

What do you all think..?

tell me if you know any java update to get things working correctly....

I love it, took me 30 minutes to get used to it, but since, I havent thought of using anything else.

As for the banners, I dont even notice them, they're not so big when you're running in anything above 800x600 IMO.

It's ok, but it doesn't support these forums very well.

Zuni said he has no plans of supporting it. :(

Mozilla M18 is better.

Opera 5.01 is great.
I have the crack, if you want just give me an email and I'll send it to you, no big deal. At least it removes the annoying commercials.

I'm using it right now... I love it, but a few sites don't seem to work (especially for online ordering). I have had a problem since installing Opera 5 (recently upgraded to 5.01 and it still happens) where I'll be scrolling a webpage and it will lock my work computer.
Other than those two things I'd recommend it to anyone..

Yep that's true... sometimes it locks mine too... but after a few sec. it is working properly again...

So at least it isn't that bad, that it drives me to resart a computer...#
IE and netscape do this to my sys....

I don't know it is probably cheap ram and all i have is 64 so it might just be the ram...

I thought that i had a reasonable motherboard... At least it is a common brand in europe.... It is a Shuttle board... never heared any reviews or anything on this board... but the company is offering bios and driver updates...

anyway....

I love Opera!!!

so then good luck...

does anybody know astalavista... I think sure everybody knows it...

I love Opera.

LOL, I guess Zuni doesn't like to code to web standandards? Opera is the only browser that supports the current HTML and ECMA standards to the 'T'.

I've been trying it, and I'm not sure how much I'll use it. On some forums the colors are messed up and I can't read them, so I have to go back to IE or NS. If I have to use 2 browsers to go where I want to, what's the point? Also on some sites the formatting is weird making them hard to read.

I applaud alternatives to IE and NS, but they should work as well.

Those (few) sites with messed up colores and layout are due to THEIR non-conformity to W3's standards, not Opera's. I'd bet that they were generated from FrontPage or AOL (former Netscape) loaded with proprietary (monoply) coding. Otherwise, Opera is as smooth as the cat's pajamas. Search this forum for "CPRM" and learn what they planning for your hard drive.

It's very fast and nice and configurable... but it crashes too often for my liking. I actually registered version 3 a while back [when it wasn't free], so seeing as I spent $35 on it, it would be quite nice if it were reliable...
