I am the official forum dumbass! I got an 880 combined score!!!!! I rock. I feel that these tests don't assess your actual intelligence. Based on those scores I should be out somewhere digging ditches, BUT I flew through college w/ a 3.9 GPA. Unfortunately, too much weight is placed on these scores and people like me, who, when given a chance and put in the time to do the work, and can succeed, are at a dissadvantage.

I took the SAT when it was given on stone tablets. Moses was our monitor. :)

Anyway, the hundred point correction would have given me a 1620, by today's standards! 1520 was very good in those days and very, very few people scored 1600. These days a perfect score doesn't make the local papers. No wonder the test's value is in decline. In ten years it may be a relic of 20th century American education.

Sgt. Speculum is correct. I know a fellow who went to graduate school and was let in by the dean only because he had been Phi Beta Kappa at NCSU and was 5th in his graduating class. Unfortunately, based solely on his GRE scores, he was only qualified to play basketball at the the University of North Dakota, Hoople Extension, Night Division. He is now one of the top people in his chosen field.

I took it back in 1989 or so, but they've since changed the scores so they are consistently higher. If the 100 pt correction referred to above reflects that, I scored 1500. ;)

I only took it once as a junior and thought 1400 was just fine -- helped me earn a full scholarship at $15,000/year so I was happy. :D

SAT scores measure nothing.

7th grade - 1030
10th grade - 1310
12th grade - 1400

and my cumulative high school GPA (with six weighted classes)? ---> 2.3

1410.... which explains why i ended up in the Army as a paratrooper.... now that takes some serious brains, don't it ? ;) Just goes to show the limitations of the test i guess, or that i got REALLY lucky that day. Or someone keyed in my score incorrectly...
