POLL: What brand of laundry detergent do you use?

I personally use Arm & Hammer Fabricare powdered detergent. It has a consistency of baby powder, but it smells really good, and the baking soda is a great deodorizer. Also, it's cheap. I got two forty-load boxes yesterday for $2.50 each.

I just can't see paying for Tide (>$5.00/box) for the good smell.

Quick question, with liquid detergent, are you suppose to add the stuff before or after putting all the clothes in?

Bought a big box of Surf powder detergent. Washed my bedding a couple nights ago, made the bed and left the house for a few hours. Came back and the bedroom smelled so nice. 🙂 Glad I finally bought something better than the cheap Sam's Choice stuff I'd been using.

Before or dumping it in to the running water while it's filling is probably best. Doubt it matters too much with the liquid stuff really though.

I always put the detergent in as soon as I turn on the washer. It helps create lots of suds while the washer is filling. Right after I put the detergent in, I start putting in clothes too.

i think tide is the concentrated one. i used ALL at same volume that i use tide, and there are less sud in the machine... it also appears to be more dilute.

Tide, powder, free of dyes and perfumes.

I am allergic to all that fragrance they put in to most soaps.
Same here, only liquid. Also, Tide seems to be the least allergenic of the "free" stuff, and the most consistent.

I use whatever is cheap... it doesn't seem to make any difference to me.

i guess it couldnt be helped if you are allergic to some brands, but otherwise tide is a huge marketting gimmick imo.

I found that sears has these big ol buckets of industrial detergent, its like usually in the paint section, and its only like $20 for a 275 load bucket
The stuff works amazingly well and has very little scent to it (although they have scented varieties). The only tuff part is carrying the bucket to the car cause its a pretty hefty contaner when full 😛

I always assume Tide costs more because of the massive marketing campaign, not because it's somehow better than the other brands....
Thus, whatever's cheapest is my choice - usually Arm & Hammer or Purex or something like that... generally $2.50 for a gallon of the stuff.

Tide...
Maybe its just me being picky - but my clothes dont quite seem clean when i Use the cheap stuff

Try Gain or Oxydol. They work every bit as well..... Trust me....I used to be like you....started experimenting.......found Gain to be every bit as good.....Oxydol is as well but it's tough to find.
