Guess what? You're gonna die.

As for me, I'm not afraid to die at all. I am a religious man, and I do think I have lived a good life the best way I know how. I believe that if I were to die right now, I would end up in Heaven.

However, if there is no God and no need for religion, I'm still not afraid to die. Even though I'm only 27, I feel like I've done good towards others and made a meaningful contribution towards society. Of course, I will die sooner or later, so what difference will an extra 50 or so years make in my life? I'm not saying I'm gonna go jump off a bridge right now. I'm still very much alive and still able to do good in this world, so I'll take advantage of it. But if my time comes today, tomorrow, or next week, I will not be afraid to go.

HOWEVER, my death MUST be painless. I can't stand the thought of pain!

Your take?

A strange coincidence. I was thinking about posing my question about three days ago but never got around to it 'til now.

I will admit I am afraid to die, I actually will panic some nights because as I lay in bed I will start thinking about death and that once you die, bam, that's it, for eternity. Damn, I'm starting to scare myself right now.

Oh and I'm not afraid of pain, sometimes pain is good.

I'm not afraid to die, but I know that I have people in the world that love me and it would hurt them so I don't want to die.
Yes, I know they'd go on, of course.
Pain? Who wants that? Some pain would be ok, it's the part of most deaths. I don't want to be tied up and tortured until I die, that's for sure.

I guess I meant to say that so far my life has been good. Sure, there are plenty of things that I'd like to do as the years go on, but as I look back, I can say that I've done nothing horrible that I regret and that I've been a normal, decent person. If I die right now, I die happy.

I am afraid of dying young or if i were to have kids and dying before when they are young. But if I were to live to the age of what is considered an appropriate of a long life would be ie. >70 then it s to be expected and I would hope there wouldn't be sever pain.

I also think everyone is afraid to die once they realuze they are going to die. Maybe not the thought of whats to come or isn't, but that of what they leave behind or what they didn't do. Maybe not both, but usually one or the other.

I'm very afraid to die. I haven't done much in life that I want to do, and I don't want to miss thoose thing. I want a family, I want kids, I want to see more of the world, I want to expand my knowledge of life, and I want to share that knowledge with my kids, and see them become great. I lived alot of my life just going along with it, few ambitions, now that I have changed my views, I dont want to lose the chance to acomplish thoose things.

Good point. Maybe if I walked outside and -- all of a sudden -- somebody pointed a gun to my head, my attitude would probably change.

I have a very relaxed attitude towards death.... I am not afraid of dying at all... It will be far worse for the people i leave behind, they will suffer, i will just be gone...

I am not religious at all, i believe that when you die, that's it, you're gone... It's nothing you can avoid anyway...

But i don't like pain so the choice is pretty easy...

oooooh, you big bad rockstar. We all pussies if we are afraid to die? Hmm. My attitude has changed dramatically in the last year after my fiancé's father was killed in an accident. It shakes up your whole view on life, well, it did me anyhow.

Nothing personal m8, just think your comment was a bit of macho posturing rather than your true inner feelings on death.

Meh...it happens. Just make the most of your life before it does.

Neither.

I don't necessarily fear death. Death saddens and confuses me for the most part... but not necessarily fear.

You can't be afraid of pain. To live in fear of pain is to not live fully. If I die in pain, then so be it, it will be over soon after anyways.

I want to be reincarnated as a fat pigeon so I may squirt excrement in the faces of those who pained me during my life. I will also wait in the trees by their homes. Waiting for them to wash and wax their vehicles. I will then poop on those as well, ensuring I have had a daily meal of insect, seeds and treebark. This will ensure the excrement is indeed Crazy Glue-like in adhesion properties.

Damn them. Damn them all.

I'm never going to die, I'm still young and kicking. :D Actually I think my death is pretty close in the grand scheme of things, I'm planning on 50 to 60 good years of life left, then comes being senile and a cripple. I just want to die when I become a drag physically and financially to those around me. I don't really fear death but I don't want to die just yet.

Read "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albrom. Its a true story about a student and his teacher about death and about life. Touching story.
