Poll: What auto transmission do you have? Auto or shift-stick ?

err

I am just wondering how many people doesn't know how to use shift stick.

Why would you drive an auto instead of shift stick?

Just wonderin'

Oh yeah.. let me start with myself 🙂

I drive both Auto and shift stick.

My newer car is auto and my older car is shift.

I personally prefer shift, as I can feel the real power of my car. However, I would certainly prefer Auto in the morning, when my eyes are half-open while driving 🙂

I have an automatic currently, but I can drive a stick. I used to work as a mechanic's apprentice when I was in high school, and my boss taught me how to drive a stick back then. If I lived in an area with less traffic, I'd definitely prefer a stick shift.

Lets see, one car with a Turbo 400 Auto
Jeep with a 3 speed stick
and 2 cars with 4 speed auto.

4 speeds are good for banging gears and burnin rubber( not to say an auto can't burn rubber), an auto is good for consistancy in racing.

I drive a stick but if I was going to get a car just to cruise on the beach with I would make sure it is auto. In bumper to bumper traffic an auto is better for your feet.

I have three cars all auto. much easier to drive in traffic. not so much work. i used to have cars with sticks. Nice to drive on the open road but a pain in traffic.

Auto. Two reasons: rush hour traffic and off road (keep both hands on the wheel and lock yourself into your seat with your left leg)

when you are young & full of pi$$ & fire you want to feel the road. a few more miles down that road & you want to be comfortable...

It is a lot better to shift the passenger next to you than the gear lever.

Stick shift here, wouldn't have it any other way.

5-speed rules!

[EDIT]I may have to revise this statement once I've had a chance driving around with a passenger who's hand I want to hold...[/EDIT]

My car is an auto. My parents' past two new cars have been stick though. Unfortunately they never get to teaching me, otherwise I'd be cruising in a new VW Cabrio 😉

hmm.. from your nick name, it seems that you might need to look for another car and change your nick to get an auto transmission 🙂

😛

err...

Actually, if I got really desperate, Hennessey Motor Sports offers automatic transmission upgrades for Vipers. Not that I have a Viper, or that I would ever want an auto tranny if I DID have a Viper, but it is available.

I'll buy myself a nice big Mercedes if I want a car for making out in.

What about "Auto Stick" like in the boxster, 300m, and japanese Protege sport wagon.

Is it decent or just a gizmo to jack up price?

Actually viper the secret is to find a long open country road to drive on then, you get it into 5th and cruise for miles with a free hand for whatever 😉

Gunbuster-

I have a 5-speed Automatic w/Sequential Sportshift. It isn't as much fun as a stick but you never miss a gear either.
