i use my account with admin priveleges. i know its suppose to be bad to do it cuz you can mess stuff up but i think most of us are the only ones that use are boxes anyway so its like messing up a 98 machine to us!

I DON'T login as admin. I log in as a user in the Power Users group. If I need to access/run something that requires admin privelages I just use the "Run As..." service, which BTW is easily the best feature of Win2k.

running as admin all the time is a bigtime risk. if you have a constant connex you are really not being too smart.

just setup your system to lock you out after 5-10mins of inacctivity

thats what i do. When my screen saver kicks in, it locks the system and ZoneAlarm turns off the net. Works great for me

poweruser.
very bad idea to log in all the time as admin.
if your machine tells you you don't have access to something, you just run the security settings applet and give poweruser privs to whatever you need privs to...

admin. Why wouldn't I? I save the user accts. for anyone else who wants to use my machine and I don't want them to #$%&*# it up.

I auto log in as Admin with a campus connection. I'm the only one who ever uses my computer, what sercurity issues should I look out for? Should I do what some of you did and rename my admin account? Setup a new account with admin properties? How can I go about just copying everything that is under my admin account into a new account?

I log on as an Admin of the machine but I disabled the administrator account for extra security. (Actually renamed administrator to something else then renamed the guest account to administrator and Disabled it.)

No kidding. If you use win98 you are always admin, so don't really see the difference here.

Well for the purposes of his home machine, this seems like a wee bit of overkill.

Logging in as Admin with a different username of course.

Have the family computer on the network setup as a power user.

Dont need the family doing anything.. umm stupid ;)

I'm always running under Admin when I'm in Win2K. But I use 98SE for all my gaming, and don't bother setting accounts up on that.

After reading all of you guys , I think no one wants their own computer to restrict their own file We should be in command with all available features to make the computer uasge friendly, It wouldn't be very unfriendly if my Win2000 to tell me sorry no permission! So for that reason I will always
log in as administrator renamed to my name. It only makes sense.
