Were you brutally teased when you were a kid?

I've been endangered several times, but they didn't do anything. It's somewhat shocking to me... I've never been beaten in my entire lifetime! Maybe I'm just a deadmeat 'geek' or a dumb one... Who knows...

My last name is To, pronounced "toe," so what do you think? 😛

Either way, my elementary school was pretty small, so i knew everyone well and name-calling would be kept to a minimum (hey, there aren't that many cheap "toe" jokes to go around).

LOL i was thinking back why i got in so many fights, and for the life of me i couldn't remember... then you mentioned name calling, and that was it. My name is Ming, so there were a lot of rhymes for that as you can imagine... Ming-a-ding being the main one i think. Funny thing, most girls i go out call me Ming-a-ling as a pet name, and i like it.

Every kid growing up is teased at some point.

I was not brutally teased. Does that mean I have to turn in my geek card?

No, in fact I was always sticking up for someone who I felt was being picked on or wronged in some way. Though I was always in with the fairly cool people, what they didn't realize was that I was struggling to belong and that I really didn't think I was too cool. It's funny what you find out about what people thought of you when you were younger. I've had a few people come up to me and tell me that they really thought I was cool when I was in school. I sure didn't think I was though. I felt like an outcast and had severe home problems which most didn't know about, and I always feared they would find out and I would be one of the ones who were picked on, which is why I think I always stuck up for them.

I wasn't brutally teased but would step in for others. Throwing a desk out a window while threatening to kick the ass of the school's "star" running back tends to shut people up. 😀

I find it somewhat hard to believe that all these people who were teased all of a sudden started kicking ass jackie chan style.

Nope. I'm friends with most of the pricks doing the teasing, though I don't tease people too much unless they just piss me off. Then the next few weeks to them are hell, because most of them won't do or say anything back 😛

Some of us never had to kick ass...just make people believe you were crazy enough to turn the tables on the "bully".

Alot of bullies never really had to back up their words with actions, if you jack up the intimidation and implied threats enough most will back down if you give them a chance.

Yes.

I was suicidal for a while and it took a long time before I was able to muster up a sense of self esteem. Thank goodness my family was so loving and supportive, because I doubt I would have made it otherwise.

Yes and no, the major tease was about my last name being Farmer,
and a few of them got to know what a Farmer can do when ya piss him off, I plowed there field (bad pun) 😉

Yes. So much so that my parents recognized it as being traumatizing and pulled me out of school. I had years of dealing with social inhibition and downright phobia in social situations because of that.
