POLL: Web artists, favorite illustration program?

(I'm posting in off-topic since more people would reply)

Well, I'm used to Illustrator more than anything, but I've been willing to try out other Illustration Programs . . . yes, I'm about to "experiment". which ones do you guys use? And if you use other progrmas, what are the strengths/weaknesses of it?

Actually, I'll post some pictures of Illustration materials I've made using Illustrator, (three posts down) . . ..

Work in progress.
All vector shapes in CorelDRAW.

I use a variety of programs, but I just like the feel of Corel.

So did you try Illustrator? What are the strengths/weaknesses of CorelDRAW? I'm relatively new to this, so please elaborate a bit more . . ..

Well, I've been a graphic designer professionally for 8+ years, so I've pretty much used all of these programs extensively. Illustrator is a great, powerful vector program. Most people like it because it has that Adobe "feel" that they are used to from PS. I guess it might just be a matter of personal taste, not so much strengths/weaknesses. I've been using Corel since Corel 3, so I'm pretty much used to it and I've grown to like it. Most Graphics people will laugh at Corel, but that's because they never gave it a chance.

Well, the thing is, you're not the only one who said that it feels "natural" or "intuitive", and I'm a bit confused as to what it means . . . I just tried the demo of Freehand, and it is absolutely horrid (although, for website designs, it's got some nifty features) - I guess I should give CorelDRAW a try sometime . . ..

Photoshop for bitmap
Illustrator for vector

That's really all there is to it. As a graphic artist/(soon to be as well) graphic designer, nearly nothing beats these two when put together when it comes to sheer 2D art.

Have you tried FreeHand or CorelDRAW? What are your opininons on them?

I'm a CorelDraw/Photo-Paint user; have been since about the 3rd or 4th version. I got Corel for free way back then and just continued using it; never made the change to Adobe and don't expect I ever will unless they quit making the Corel line of products.

Edit: BTW, I don't think there's really much difference between Corel and Adobe. I've used both Photoshop and Illustrator; they're very similar in what they can do.

CorelDraw is pretty nice if you have a tablet, CorelPaint I noticed was used (dunno if it still is) a lot in spacescapes.

Shhh! Careful! You don't want the 3dsmax bois to get riled up!

I use Paintshop Pro because I don't have enough money to buy photoshop/illustrator. I do make good art but I know I could do better if someone were to throw a couple hundred bucks at me.

My PSP artwork: 1, 2, 3, 4, and more here

That's what I used at first too. It took me a few months before I was good enough to go to the next level.

And to think, this started when I was making trance =0)

If Corel's Painter 8 is anything like Meta Creation's Painter 6, that would be the program to have. It's not so much for illustrations, as for actual art. With a pressure sensitive tablet and pen, there's nothing closer to the real thing. It's a digital canvas and paint pallet. Wish to hell I had the talent to make use of it!
