Wtf does kissing before you're married have to do with religion?

It's foreplay, and those crazy Christians go "oe noes!!!!!!!" to that.

Just to let everyone know... (for survey's sake)
I had never kissed anyone until I kissed my "then GF/future wife". I did it when I knew I was going to propose.
Of course I don't know if it's better than not waiting to find your match, but I can say this: I find the thought of kissing anyone else to be kinda weird. And I guess that it's due to the fact that I've never kissed anyone else.

this is a quote from that xian thread

:Is this just for guys? I think it's probably the best way to remain pure until marriage...by not getting into kissing, which often leads to other things. However, I also think that just because two people kiss before marriage does not mean their relationship is not righteous. "

WTF?!

Kissing makes one not "pure"??
insinuating that pre-marital foreplay would make ones marriage not righeous (see: blasphemous)

these people are crazy. since when is it considered a sin to kiss?

I honestly can't believe the kind of crap that people on this forum spew. How can not doing something that they choose be so horribly wrong in your eyes. If they don't want to kiss until they're married, then you should accept that, it's their choice, not yours or anyone elses. There will always be people who don't live up to your expectations, and frankly, i'm glad with all the twisted ideas that people have nowadays. They are simply trying to show their future spouse that they are the ONLY one they ever want to kiss, have sex with, be with, etc. It is a beautiful thing that most people simply don't have the willpower to do. Leave people to make their own choices, you don't need to make it for them.

WOW, very well said and in some regards I am slightly embarrassed at my earlier comments, however in my defence, the original thread was made as a boast, giving their opinion of the same subject, hence the opinions of this forum and their views......Does that make sense?!...LOL

This forum would be pretty boring if everyone said 'well, it doesn't bother me'.

I don't have any negative feelings toward those who want to save themselves, but there is such a thing as an uninformed decision, and regret can be more poisonous than a physical act.

IMHO, this whole Christian Youth thing turns into a contest more often than not, and I've observed that trying to mesh many individual relationships with 'God' into one conglomerate can often end more friendships than it creates.

Christians can be the most pompous, judgemental people I know, which they shouldn't be if they really realize what Christianity is all about. :(

Well said, IanthePez. :) I agree.

On another note, are all 'impurities' punishable as sin? A rape victim may have had sex before marriage, against her will. She might even be a Christian. Is she impure? Did she sin? Does she deserve to be punished for it? Did God let it happen? Would your entire church agree? If not, how would you know who was right/wrong?

Sorry, but it is not that simple.. if that was all it is, then I would agree with you. Unfortunately, extremists such as this are the ones that are so afraid of others' views that they:

Bomb abortion clinics
Go door to door soliciting you to switch to their religion
Send death threats to judges who decide that their beliefs(Intelligent Design) should not be taught as science(happened just this week)
and many other controlling things...(i.e. religious extremists backing the current president which has initiated sweeping reductions in rights and science research(stem cells))

Ironically, someone TODAY knocked on my door at 9 AM and was soliciting his religion, trying to convert me... and to add insult to injury, it is a religious holiday today for jews!(even though I am not a jew, there might be one on my block)...Plus, soliciting is illegal where I live... Plus, it is the 4th time it has happened to me this year already.

If you think for one second that religious extremists aren't EXTREMELY dangerous, you are a fool. Christian extremists are no less dangerous than muslim extremists or any other religious extremist!

Additionally, most kids that go to those forums and others like it are brainwashed day in and day out by their parents.. do you know what happens if they have any disagreements or believe differently than they are "taught"?

In the liberal state of New York, my now wife and I had to leave the state to get away from her nutty parents who pretty much disowned her for a time because I wasn't her religion.. and used money/relatives into trying to control her.

If these kind of people kept to themselves, I do not think ANYONE would have a problem with them... unfortunately, real life proves differently.

I voted "no," although I respect the choice of others to do differently.

As long as a person's individual choice does not hurt anyone else, I don't a problem with it. If you want to lick a lamp post every time you come across one, I may think it is bizarre but since you aren't hurting anyone else, lick away!
