Volkwagen 1.9L PD150 Turbo Direct Injection diesel

150hp/236lb.ft. and it has a 52.6MPG combined rating. (39.2 city, 64.2 highway)

What cars is that in?

The GTI in Europe.

It won't run properly on our high-sulfur content diesel. This is going to change in the next few years, and VW plans on bringing over it's entire PD line of diesel engines. (PD = pumpe duse, which is a VERY high pressure injection system)

The new Bug, to bad it only gets like 90HP

Nope.

The current 1.9L 90hp diesel we get here is not a PD engine. It's at the low end of the VW diesel totem pole, in spite of the fact that it works quite well and can be modded fairly easily. 🙂

Any other cars?

The 90hp diesel is available here in the Golf, Jetta and New Beetle.

In the fall, VW is bringing over a new 2.0L diesel for the Passat with 134hp and 23xlb.ft. (IIRC)

Trying to keep the list recent, so mostly current production vehicles only.

Recent motor's guys 😀

How can you forget an Acura Integra's GSR B18C1 engine?

Also H22A - Prelude engine

B16A1/2 - Honda Civic Si engine

All four bangers that could easily made faster via a turbocharger.

I think he meant a STOCK turbocharged engine.

The VW 1.8T is weak when it comes to low-end torque. That's why I got the 3.0 in my A4.

The Subaru engine has a lot more power.

Well then he should change the title to include the word "stock".

From the number of votes for the WRX engines despite the fact there are a few of them, not just one... and in different displacements...
There's also a rare 2.2L in some of the Prodrive WRXs overseas.
I'm guessing nobody has actually done work on one... boxer engines suck @$$ to work on. Very much a giant PITA... spark plugs are an adventure.

Me... it's 4G63T all the way... not an aluminium block but being iron and the way it's built... it's one friggin overengineered beast of an engine. EJs just can't handle as much power as 4G63s. It takes the STi 2.5L to pump out the same 300hp that an Evo does with a $20 boost controller & a $40 blowoff valve with 2.0L.

The SRT4 engine is just a modded version of the wonderful 420 from Dodge. The best domestic 4banger out currently by far. Boosted or unboosted... too bad they don't have the DOHC version anymore. 95-99 DOHCs rock.

That's a supercharger 😉
As are all Mercedes with forced induction (aka Kompressor).
I don't think any Mercedes currently uses a Turbo.

They use two turbos on their newest V12 engines. Yes, that's right, TWO turbos on a V12 engine.

The 1.8T obtains maximum torque at 1950 rpm. I don't know what you're talking about.

The Saab 4 has 250 horsepower out of just 2 liters ( the WRX can't equal that power per displacement), and it's silky smooth and quiet to boot. put it the wagon and make everyone wish they were wearing Depends when your mom-mobile hands them their newly-crap-covered asses on a plate. 🙂

Subaru = strong and smooth.

Too bad I can't get that WRX STi engine in a Legacy GT. (The WRX is too small for the price, so I wouldn't buy one.)

Was there ever a Porsche 944 Turbo?? Porsche 3.0L H-4 (boxer) pwns j00 ALL!!! :Q

Actually, the engine I'm thinking of is the M44/52 in the 1988 944 Turbo S (with the K26-70 turbo.) Displacement was 'only' 2.5L...but the specs speak for themselves:

# Horsepower: 250 bhp @ 5800 rpm
# Torque: 258 ft lb @ 3800 rpm
# 0-60 mph in 5.4 sec
# 1/4 mile: 13.8 sec

(specs from C&D)

Dr. Smooth beat me too it!
