Between the Voodoo3, ATI Rage Fury Pro and Xpert 2000, what is the better all around card, or are there any other cards that can be found here for under $100

i'd say the Rage Fury for the reasons kicken stated... or if you have a system that's real flakey, and need max stability, go with the V3 - the V3 seems a lot more tolerant of odd hardware configurations than does the ATI stuff, IMHO.

It doesnt really have to be one of those, I'm really looking for a good agp card, more toward 4x and 32mb but I would go for a 2x and/or 16mb. I wanna get something less than $100, used or new, doesn't matter. Tv out and dvd is pretty important, but I want to get something thats not just good at a few things, i want something thats like good at everything ya know? I'm leaning toward the rage fury pro right now.

Ive never actually used a ati rage fury..im just stating the reasons my rage pro has :D
I own the v3...Its especially nice to overclock in games :)
If u like getting around 50-90fps get the v3 in UT that is..oc'ed mine to 160 :)
U can get a v3 around here for under 50 [2000, 1000 is cheapest]
Ive just noticed that the ati cards are much more solid...the best at 2d and dvd ive ever seen..well good lucky :)

Might wanna check around on the base-line GeForce MX cards...quite a value there in your price range.

What about a TNT2? The DV770 is better than the Voodoo3, or ATI. About the same price, they are onsale on the forums quite frequently for less than $70.

look for a good deal on a geforce2 mx...it's an extremely great card for a great price. don't get a 3dfx card [voodoo] because it's been bought out by nvidia and no more drivers will be available for update. so nvidia is really the only [true] way to go

My vote is for the Voodoo3.

I can't speak for the Xpert 2000 but the Rage Fury Pro sucked. It had bad drivers and crappy image quality in 3D games due to tearing caused by its alternate frame rendering method. Also the framerates were very inconsistent and wildly fluctuating.

I replaced two voodoo 3 3000 cards with Geforce 2 MX cards, and the MX's are much better looking and faster too. IF you are into 3d gaming I would not even consider either of the ATI cards, as the Voodoo 3 would blow either one of them away, not to mention what the Geforce 2 MX would do to them. The only reason for going with the ATI cards would be if you were more concerned about DVD playback which is the one thing they supposedly do well. IMHO, the Geforce 2 MX is by far the best bang for the buck.

Diamond VIper 2 ....

I know everyone here hates S3 chipsets .... but this card is not all that bad .. GF2 MX is certainly better ...

but the Viper II is definatly better then voodoo3 for gaming performance ... i get about 60FPS in UT 32bit 1024x768

I know the VIper 2 can be had for under 75 bucks and it has 32mb of ram

the DVD playback is great .. for a bit more you can get the one with the TVout ...

the TVout on it is just regular s-video ... and it works great for me.

I dont know too much about the ATI cards ... but i'd think a Radeon should not be too far out of reach rather then rage fury pro or xpert 2000 ...

The ATI Rage Fury Pro VIVO would be a good choice scince DVD Playback and Tv Out is important to you.

The Voodoo 3 is a very good 16MB card, beats the 32MB rage Fury in terms of many gaming performence test.

Xpert 2000 is okay but for a little more the Rage Fury is better.

I do like my GeForce2 MX but how much is the ELSA version over there, the reason I mention that is because you can get the optional VIVO module for around £30 over here, plus the elsa card includes elsa's dvd 2000 software.

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to play games then the Voodoo3 is by far the best card. The Rage Fury is HORRIBLE for games.

If you're not into games then the Rage Fury would probably be your best bet for the reasons that kicken gave.
