Poll: Using the handicap stall in the bathroom

Do you use the handicap stall?

  • I'd only use the handicap stall in an emergency.

  • I'll take a normal stall first, but if they're all full, handicap stall it is.

  • I take the handicap stall first! The extra space is great.

This past Friday, I was leaving one of the stalls at work and one of the guys I work with was waiting for a stall. There's nothing weird about this except for the fact that the handicap stall as sitting there open the entire time.

I gave him some flak for not using the handicap stall and found that, where he's from, nobody ever uses the handicap stall unless they're disabled... even if it's the only one open. It's viewed like parking in a handicap parking space. I will always take a normal stall first, but if they're all full, I wouldn't' think twice about using the handicap stall.

So let's put this to a poll. I expect that the middle option will win, but I'm curious how many other people out there see it like he does... and I may just end up being surprised.

The bathroom is full, so even if they weren't handicapped they couldn't use the pisser anyway.

Uh, that's weird. I could count the number of times I've seen a handicapped person in a public restroom on one hand, so I always use it if everything else is full. Sometimes I even use it to avoid shitting in an adjacent stall.

I tentatively voted for the second option. The reality is I pick the cleanest stall that has toilet paper whichever one that happens to be.

Needs a fourth option. I'd never use a sit down toilet at a public restroom to begin with. Rather turtle for an hour. Heck I don't even use the one at work and I know the people peeing all over the seat. :p

I do not care for the handicap stalls but will them if other stalls are taken. I am a modest person and handicap stalls seem to always have the crack between the door and the divider centered in front of the throne. I don't like people looking at me when I'm doing what I'm doing in there.

Yeah, I look through the open stalls and pick the cleanest one no matter which one it is.

That's why you never sit down on it. You lean over it. If I have to go I'm going to go.

Always if it's first. My excuse is that I'm tall.

oh my god, there is a stall at my office where the normal toilet is ridiculously close to the paper dispenser and you literally can't sit your knees out straight and bothers the heck out of me, makes it really hard to push through.

made me think of that

I'll use it. As far as I can tell so far, there are no handicapped people in my building at work.

As a student, I always used the handicap stalls whenever possible. At work, however, I never use the handicap stalls.

In HS, I always used the faculty restrooms. One bangers with more privacy than the student restrooms.

Any old port in a storm...Hell, I'm not bashful about using the ladies' room in an emergency...

I'll be happy to report to my coworker that, according to a bunch of people on an internet tech forum, he's 98% wrong!
