Should the US torture or be complicit in its use of torture on terroists to gain further intelligence?

I am usually pretty conservative, but I am strongly against the use of torture... I think it it stands in the face of what this country stands for and its supposed championing of human rights..... Not only that, but I think it would make the possible use of torture on US servicemen and women who might become POW's or kidnappings much more likely....

Lol, I don't think torture is that bad, some people do deserve it, like child molesters, killers, etc. But the problem is how would you know for sure someone is a terrorist/criminal?

It sets too many precedents. Don't get me wrong - I don't want to give out free vacations - but state sponsored torture is a slippery slope.

Terrorists should have absolutely no rights.
I say do whatever it takes to get them to talk.

Um, what do you think happens during "interrigation"? Especially if they don't talk? Do you really think they're nice? lol.....

However, that doesen't make it right.. just.. effective. ;)

What's the point? You wouldn't know if they're telling the truth anyway, they'll tell you what you wanna hear to make it stop.

Exactly. Is it worth torturing one person if it could save the lives of others? Absolutely.

Torture is the dumbest punishment evAr.

All it does is make the dude that is getting tortured rat out people that didn't do anything.

FBI: "Who else helped you?"

Bin Laden: "Ishmail Muhammed Tardslov"

FBI: "Ok, lets kill him."

Ishmail Muhammed Tardslov: "Ummm..... I am just Ishmail..... from accounting...... I have no idea what you're talking about."

See what I mean?

"When you torture, the terrorists have won?" I don't think so.

All humans have a breaking point. I don't care what training or conditioning you have endured; we ALL have a breaking point. Enough physical and mental pain and you will talk like a parrot on methamphetamine.

Picture this: You are an American Pilot. An American Tank Gunner. An American Spy. An American PASTOR, caught behind enemy lines. What do you think they are going to do to you? Give you hot cocoa, let you call home and give you a hot meal?

You'd be LUCKY if they blew your brains out with an AK47 on the spot. :( You might as well shoot yourself before being taken captive b/c in about a week, you'll be praying to whatever God you believe in (or will have found God) for your death to finally come.

I say light the fvckers on fire. On public television and broadcast it worldwide. Send the message that we are not messing around anymore. Note the "anymore." Our pansy-ass attitude is the reason why we got sucker punched on 9-11.

Celine Dion non-stop for 30 minutes with their mouth gagged so they can't make any counteractive noises.

That'll teach 'em.

There's more forms of torture than just the physical... we can just subject them to hours upon hours of Dell dude commericials, Carrot Top, Tom Green, and whatever other annoying thing we can't stand. ;)

Edit: Rossman's suggestion is pretty good too!

Seriously, psychological manipulation prolly counts as torture for the hippie liberals but that's Ok in my book.

I'm sure they would observe the Tardslov first before killing him...

Of course the answer is NO.
I've argued this before and I'm not going to bother to repeat an obvious argument again. In short, the torture of suspected criminals, even "terrorists," is against our laws and against the principal foundations upon which our country was built. I won't even go into the moral objections... if some people here don't understand them, then I don't think that they're worthy of holding an opinion on this matter. Then throw in the fact that physical torture is a nearly worthless and pointless form of interrogation... jeez, the mob rule in this country has gone too far. :disgust:
