Would you call that bulky?

You and Red Dawn are big guys!

I'd pick medium 'bulk' and tone. I don't want to be too big but always lean. Hell don't even want to be too bulky either as for my sports and such it will slow you down being 220lbs!!! 165-176lbs is almost too big at 5"10 to get some of the moves down in Gymnastics. I'd have to be much shorter to do well!

I'm 5'10, 165lbs in the morning and 176lbs at night with food and water lol, 32" waist but have tiny hips lol. I hope to get to about 187-198lbs is good weight imo for 5"10. Pretty muscled but not too big, well not freakishly big like some bb guys! Just hope I can stay quick and do my sports well.

I enjoy being lean with a decent build. Will pack on more bulk later if it is useful for my sports.

Yeah, I think 200 lbs after cutting is going to be my limit. I'll probably be limited by genetics somewhere around there anyhow, and I'm not willing to juice... so getting much bigger isn't an option anyhow.

I haven't lost any range of motion (other than what can be contributed to age) and I still look normal in clothes.

I am kinda hoping to get to a workout bench weight of 300 lbs. I'm at 8-10 reps with 255 lbs now so 300 is feasable. I know, it's a silly goal, but hey...
Once you hit your goal then what do you do? What kind of maintenance Workout Regimen would you go on i.e. how many days a week would you lift or do cardio, would you tone down the intensity of your sessions, etc.

I would probably keep up the frequency, and lessen the intensity. Just start increasing the reps rather than the weight.

Of course, I've heard that's very hard to do. This crap is addictive. It's a HUGE high for me when I make gains.

Oh well, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. :)

I don't either, but I use that one rep max estimator and a best guess and I think it's pretty accurate. I'm starting to day dream about whether I actually got 215 X10 several weeks ago, which would have been the best set of my life, but I just can't quite remember if I did or didn't.

I see the mind has already started slipping. :D

Don't jest, I'm honestly becoming paranoid that my memory is leaving me in recent years :(

Part of the reason I'm not sure is because it would have been much stronger than I'd been previously (by at least 10 lbs), but at the same time I was really pretty sure I did that set.

If I don't joke about it, I'll get depressed.

If I get depressed, I'll get pissed.

If I get pissed off about being depressed about something I can do nothing about, I'll probably climb the nearest tower with a rifle and pull a Ned Flanders... "There's Homer, there's Homer..."

I'm hoping to get to a one rep max of 300lbs and right now it's around 255 ;) My genetics are crap, which really sucks, because my dad is big with large calves, but my mother doesn't have any muscle on her and I got her bloody genes in me more than I'd like. Both of my brothers have the same problem and if not for working out I'd be a joke, physically. Hopefully my kids will get some of my dad's genes in them.

Yeah, I have the same problem, but reversed. I have my mom's genes and she is skinny everywhere but her midsection.

I don't do one rep maxes. Too much of a chance of hurting myself at this age. :(

Both my parents are flexible and are pretty strong and athletic in their time. Dad is built like a brick sh!t house and broad and thick bodied. Mum has normal build but was very athletic and could race on a bike and beat guys.

I pack on muscle well, flexible and fast so I am lucky in that respect but I train hard.

I want to Snatch 275lbs and Clean and Jerk 330lbs some day. Sink a Russian and Manor and other crazy Gymnastic moves. Military Press my bodyweight sometime day. Squat 330lbs to rock bottom for 6reps x 5 sets :D. Hit a max of 440lbs back squat for one :D

Lots of goals for an ambitious guy. I think they can be all done by the time I am 33yrs old. I definately want to be at my peak between 25-33 if possible.

Tone. Don't loose flexibility and range of motion, and more women like "tone" men than "bulky" men if you were to take a survey about it.

:)

Wait until your 30s... flexibility starts going all by itself. :(

Not always,I'm pretty flexible and getting even more so as time goes on:)

LOL

I'm from Belgium, our highest "mountain" is an awesome 694m hill. I have to drive at least 1000km to the Alps to climb.
I've done some climbing in the USA (Mnt Shasta - 14162 ft) and I'm certainly are going back to do some more in the coming years. Great opportunities

Girls like:

Tone and medium bulk that accentuates abs, shoulders/traps, chest, butt. In female surveys, they always list chest and butt, btw.

nature decided that 4% body fat is out of the question for me,
so i embrace my big, hirsute self.

I prefer the toned look for myself. I've been working out for something like 4 years, and have gained a total of maybe 8-10 pounds. Part of it is my metabolism and medium-sized frame, but the rest is just that I honestly don't want to gain much weight. I'm a freak when it comes to my own health and diet. I'm at roughly 8% bf right now, and I still feel like I could lose a pound or so around my midsection.

As for which is harder: well, it depends on the person. Generally, I'd say getting toned requires more discipline. But forcing yourself to eat enough to become bulky can, for some people, be quite an accomplishment in and of itself. Besides that, bulking also requires some serious lifting.

And as for women and what they prefer: first of, for most women, physical appearance (and especially body) isn't as important as it is with most men. The ones that I've spoken to actually vary quite widely (as with men) on what they like. A few liked their men to be chubby, some liked them skinny, and the majority wanted them somewhere in between: toned, but with some bulk so that the woman feels slightly overshadowed by her partner.

In terms of body parts, I've met girls that like them all, but generally the favorites seem to be: chest, stomach, shoulders, arms, butt, and hands. Usually a woman will like two or three of the above in lieu of the rest.

Just my own experiences, though. By no means an ultra-authoritative reprepsentation of all womankind.

I'm about 5-7, 200lbs... about 19% bodyfat, but benching 330+... usually don't have time to do cardio in the morn, but when it gets warmer I'm gonna trim it down... women have no problem with the way I look now, g/f defines my chest and arms as "massive" and how much she loves it haha... Strength/bulk is not a bad thing to most women, trust me ;)

Your chest and arms are the only "massive" thing on your body. Too bad she's disappointed with the "rest" ;)

Don't ever go into misc.fitness.weights and use the word "tone". You'll be eaten alive.

Actually, I have to buy easy fit or "relaxed" pants or my thighs wont fit. That's the curse of having a naturally small waist and hips.
