I just wipe the seat off. Never liked those cover things.

This. For most normal situations a quick wipe down is all you need. If the place is REALLY that nasty, a flimsy piece of tissue paper is a poor defense anyway so I'll just hold it and go somewhere else.

Also, I rarely shit in public if I can avoid it.
 
At home of course not but in public places including my office I will use the covers when available and TP when there are no covers. I know someone who works in the medical profession and carries these Clorox wipes (they come in a small pocket size package). I think that's a little overboard but if you knew what types of bacteria and diseases you can get from a toilet seat, you may reconsider. But then again, most public handled items are pretty nasty with lots of dangerous pathogens. I take public transportation every day and whenever I reach my destination, home or work, I wash my hands and sometimes my face. NYC subways are filthy.
 
If my goddamn immune system can't handle sitting on the same throne as someone else than I have a fucking bigger problem than toilets to deal with. Seriously - if it has been shat upon or pissed on - you pick - clean it up or move on. Piss is sterile but I don't like sitting in someone elses. Dudes should lift the lid, but if they don't and you gotta fucking clean it - use TP - wash, another to dry - thats all you really need. If theres shit on it - I don't clean that up, I'd just move to the next one.

I sit my bareass down on the bare seat.



 
I do a quick visual inspection. If there is any hair or small amount of liquid on the seat I just wipe it off with TP.

If it's bad enough that a quick wipe-down won't take care of it, then I find a different stall.
 
some dude here at work covers the seat in TP before using it. how do i know that? he doesn't remove the TP from the seat.

I'm on the can right now posting from my phone. I just wiped it down with toilet paper. What an appropriate thread for my current activities.
