Since I develop software for handheld at works, i've noticed that the PalmOS is falling behind and PocketPC is great to develop for. So I may get an Axim in the next few months.

Not that I've owned any palms or played extensively with one, but Palm broke through OS5's 16mb limitation. Welcome to Tungsten C. 400mhz xscale, 64mb ram, 802.11b. Just one more factor that's in the way: cost. Looks like by breaking through the 16mb limit and by introducing arm chips, they could find their way again.

400mhz xscale, 64mb on board, 802.11b on board...that describes my Toshiba e740 which I paid $129 for after rebates and BVG last year. Oh, and don't forget on board compact flash and SD slots.

Yea, I've always felt PocketPC was the better platform. They can utilize the technology they developed to succeed, but they have to play other cards right. How bout introducing a CF slot and keeping devices under 5.5oz? How about knocking $200 off the price on that T|C?

When I heard the specs, I immediately thought "e740 clone!" I've heard that PalmOS uses memory more efficiently by letting you put more contacts, appointments, and other progs in ram. But in the 16mb Palm days, I also pointed out that when you have mp3 music, jpg pics, or some divx movies, the Palm probably isn't going to use its 16mb ram more efficiently than PocketPC.
