We seem to have every other topic covered here at Anandtech Forums...

Why not have an Anandtech financial forum?

Just curious...any thoughts?

With all the other categories we have, and considering how many financial questions get asked in ATOT, I think it's only reasonable that we have a finance forum.

I agree inferno...does it really take that much energy to just look over the varied topics offered here to realize that a financial forum would fit right in? I see visions of YASQ = Yet Another Stock Question YA4Q = Yet Another 401k Question or the ever so subtle YAFGM = Yet Another Financial Guru Manifesto

The names Bond ...Treasury Bond.

My thought is no because there really aren't that many specific financial threads posted, and given that if there were a forum, half would post on the OT board anyways because that's where the traffic is. So that said, I think it would be pretty quiet there and it would languish amongst few faithfuls.

And regarding stocks, there is a usually a main stock market thread created at the beginning of each year, and people post their stock thoughts etc. in that one. Its better that way for these because all those tracking the market will probably keep in touch with that thread, and discussions will be better with more involved.

No, there's a giant portion of vocal users who advertise individual stock picking and generally spread bad advise. For every success story that we hear there is someone who failed hard.

There *should* be a general finance forum where people can discuss investments, credit cards, savings/checking accounts, mortgages/real estate, loans, and other financial things.

Not just stocks.

I also agree with this sentiment.
I post threads where there are traffic. I don't think I've ever created a thread in most of the other forums.
If what I want to ask has a different sub-forum for it, I mold some sentences and add a few lines to make sure some mod doesn't move it from OT since that's where the traffic is.

It doesn't make any sense for me to post a question about mortgages if it's only going to be seen by 10 people.

I vote donuts.

If there were a "Team Anand Fund" for me to invest in, I'd totally go for it.

Who wants to start the first ponzi scheme???
